Welcome to a look inside Global Perspectives- a brand new course available for grade 10 students at Walton International School Xuzhou. 

This course encourages communication, student-centred learning, critical thinking & also allows students to learn more about the world. 

Students literally look through different perspectives and try to understand key world issues from different points of view. 

It’s a great way to learn about culture, history, geography, sociology and many more subjects. 

Best of all, it’s up to the students what they learn. 


       欢迎来到“全球视野”课堂,徐州华顿国际学校为国际高一学生开设的全新课程。本课程鼓励学生多沟通交流、以学生为中心的学习、使用批判性思维,也让学生更多的了解当今世界。让学生们从不同的角度看待问题并试图从不同的角度理解世界。这是学习文化、历史、地理、社会学和其他学科的好方法。最重要的是,还是要看学生们学的是什么。

Each unit students have a ‘Challenge’ to complete. They are given a series of three themes to discuss and research, then they choose 1 of these topics and delve deeper and become an expert in that field. The teacher helps guide students by giving prompts and asking questions, however, the students ultimately decide what they will learn about and how they will present the information to the class. Through this methodology, using English as their vehicle, students will educate their peers about different topics, engage in discussions and debates, all the while building a set of core skills which every university candidate is expected to possess.

       每个单元,学生都要完成一个“挑战”。他们一开始有三个主题进行研讨和研究,然后选择一个主题进行深入探究并成为这方面的专家。教师通过给出提示和提问来帮助引导学生,但是,最终还是学生自己决定他们将学习什么以及如何在课堂上展示出来。通过这一方法,学生将以英语为载体,跟同龄人共同学习,参与讨论和辩论,同时练就一套每个高中生都应该具备的核心技能。


The ‘Challenges’ progressively get tougher as the year goes on, and as students build their skills, they are expected to push themselves to learn more about a topic and present it in a different way. 

A popular topic from the first Challenge was Belief Systems, and Walton students really embraced the ‘Global’ in Global Perspectives! Below is a taster of what students have been able to achieve in a relatively short period. 

Like a duck to water, Leah  has taken to this course extremely well and has researched a very interesting topic we would like to share with you all. A comparison between Greek mythology and Norse mythology. 

These two cultures have had a profound impact on European culture, and the ripples of history have continued to inspire works of art, thought, literature and contemporary culture- like the massively popular Marvel comics‘Thor‘. I will let Leah continue and share her knowledge below. Enjoy!

       随着时间的推移,“挑战”逐渐变得更加严峻,但是随着学生技能的提高,他们希望自己能更深入更全面的了解这个主题,并以不同的方式呈现出来。第一次的“挑战”是热门话题信仰体系,华顿的学生们从全球视野的角度真正地拥抱了“全球”这个概念!

       如鱼得水般的,学生Leah(单予涵)就将这门学科学习的很好,她选择了一个非常有趣的话题,希腊神话与挪威神话之比较。

       这两种文化对欧洲文化产生了深远的影响,历史的涟漪继续激励着艺术、思想、文学和当代文化的作品的产生,就像广受欢迎的惊奇漫画“托尔”。我会让Leah(单予涵)继续学习并分享她所学,享受这一切吧!
