在广州外国语学校爱莎文华IBDP课程这方艺术沃土里,同学们是如何茁壮成长,散发属于自己的光芒的?


本期学长学姐说,我们对微电影节的设计师们进行采访,以本次活动为切入点,走进IB学子的艺术世界。

回顾微电影节颁奖礼精彩瞬间


回到微电影节颁奖礼上,观众们翻动着放在椅子上创意十足的绘本,按照自己的想法拼配风格各异的小人,感受着微电影颁奖礼策划团队的想象力与创造力。这场微电影节颁奖礼的主角,除了微电影及其主创团队,还有由IB学子组成的设计师团队——本次颁奖礼的主持手卡、邀请函、纪念绘本、奖座、奖品等一系列颁奖礼用品都出自他们之手。

回忆起为何加入设计团队,

同学们纷纷表示初衷很简单。


一是出于对于艺术的喜爱。Mily同学回想起第一次接到加入设计团队的邀请时,她表示感到非常兴奋,她说:“艺术和设计都是一个创新的过程,对于我来说我非常享受这个过程,所以当Young老师邀请我们为这次的微电影节设计周边的时候真的很高兴。”Fiona同学也表示,艺术是她一直都很喜欢的领域,所以毫不犹豫地加入了设计师团队。


二是出于对IB大家庭的热爱。Zoey同学表示,艺术和设计是具有力量的,和Hamila同学一样,她十分希望能够通过自己的特长来为微电影颁奖礼增添色彩,为IB社区出一份力,举行一个更完整、更有仪式感的微电影大赛。


回顾颁奖礼全程,我们从同学们的作品中可以看出其中有许多巧思。


首先,结合本次微电影节主题“My Universe and I”,设计师们选择了蓝绿类似极光的配色作为主题色,“这种颜色可以让大家联想到神秘且浩瀚的宇宙”,Hamila说。其次为了呼应微电影节,在Logo、纪念币、邀请函中,都融入了电影胶片元素。除此以外,值得一提的还有观众可以参与互动的绘画册子,设计师Haven介绍道:“My Universe and I让我想到一种不被拘束的自由。我联想到小时候自己搭配衣服去上幼儿园的感觉,这可以说是在自己的美学Universe(宇宙) 中发挥想象力的启蒙”这些作品让主持人、受邀嘉宾及其他参与同学无不感叹设计师们的创意与用心。




对此,设计师们表示,从寻找灵感,到出设计稿,再到制作出成品这个过程一点都不简单。首先是“从无到有”这个过程。Mily回忆道,在设计初期,为了希望跳出条条框框,设计出来的东西更有意思,一起进行了多场头脑风暴,并经历了多次的提出、否定、再完善才有了设计的初稿。而如何将创意制作成品也让同学们感到了困扰。比如,在初版设计出来之后,同学们才发现很多想法会受限于实际操作,可行性不高,需要进行大量修改。又或是在最后印刷成品时,校对过程中才发现会出现剪裁不完成的情况需要调整排版……但同学们都一 一面对与克服。

从“0”到“1”,从“1”到“100”,同学们付出许多,同时也收获了许多。


一方面是自身技能。Mily同学表示,这是她第一次设计这种类型的绘本和海报,这个项目促使她用心钻研一些原本觉得“很高级”、“很难实现”的想法,提高了设计能力。同时,Zoey同学提到,这次项目需要将设计想法落实,让她学会把注意力需要放在设计的规格和要求上,思考如何将设计落地,而不能“纸上谈兵”。


另一方面,同学们的其他综合能力也得到了显著提高。“其中沟通能力得到了很大的提高,其中包括组员之间紧密高效地沟通以及和供应商之间的沟通”,Haven说。除此以外,Fiona同学提到在完成这个项目的过程中,如何将学习与活动平衡对她来说是一个挑战,对其自我管理、时间管理能力都是一次锻炼,她感觉得到了很大的成长。


对于同学们来说,还收获了满满的成就感。“我真的很荣幸能够在这次活动发挥自己的艺术特长为我们IB社区的家人们服务。当设计出有趣的产品,把它们送到同学,老师们的手上,这对我来说是一个巨大的满足!”Mily同学说。





如果想要孩子在学业和社交能力上都更进一步,接受艺术熏陶是关键。一旦忽略了艺术教育,我们就损害了年轻人在21世纪的成功机会和创新参与的机会。

of Microfilm Awards Ceremony



At the awards ceremony of the Microfilm Festival, the audience flipped through the creative picture books placed on their chairs, assembled toys with different styles to their liking, and felt the imagination and creativity of the planning team of the Microfilm Awards Ceremony. At the ceremony, shining are the microfilm creative team stars and the design team stars comprised of IB students – a series of items used in the awards ceremony including the host cards, invitation letters, commemorative picture books, trophies, prizes and so on were designed by them.

Recalling why they joined the design team, 

the students expressed that 

their original intention was simple.

They love art. Mily recalled her excitement when she was invited to join the design team. She said: "Art and design are both a process of creation. For me, I enjoy this process very much, so I was very pleased when teacher Young invited us to design products for this microfilm festival.” Fiona also said that she has always loved art, so she joined the design team without hesitation. 


They also joined the design team out of love for the IB family. Zoey said that art and design are powerful, and like Hamila, they very much hope to use their expertise to give colour to the awards ceremony, to contribute to the IB community, and to have a tasteful and formal microfilm festival. 


Looking back at the entire awards ceremony, we see ingenuity in the products designed by the students. 


Based on the theme "My Universe and I" of this microfilm festival, the designers chose a blue-green colour like the aurora as the theme colour. "This colour reminds people of the mysterious and vast universe," said Hamila. To echo the microfilm festival, photographic film elements were incorporated into the logo, commemorative coins, and invitation letters. In addition, it is worth mentioning that there was a picture book that the audience may participate in and interact with. Its student designer Haven said: "My Universe and I reminds me of the carefree time when I was choosing and matching clothes for myself to go to kindergarten with when I was young. It encourages me to give play to imagination in my own aesthetic universe.” The ceremony host, guests and fellow students all admired the creativity and dedication the designers put in their designed products. 



In response to their admiration, the student designers expressed that the process from looking for inspiration, producing design drafts, to producing finished products was not easy at all. The first step was to start from scratch. Mily recalled that in the early stage of design, they had many brainstorming sessions together hoping to get out of the box and design something interesting. After many times of proposals, rejections, and refinements, the first design version eventually came into being. And the students encountered many difficulties trying to turn the designs into finished products. For example, after the first design version completed, the students found that many design ideas could not be implemented limited by the existing practices and they were forced to make many revisions to the design. And while conducting the final check before printing, it was discovered that the layout needed to be adjusted because of cutting requirements...However, the students faced and overcame all the problems one by one.

From "0" to "1" and from "1" to "100", the students have put in a lot but also gained a lot.


On the one hand, they gained skills. Mily said that this is the first time she has designed this type of picture book and poster. This project has prompted her to delve into some ideas that she used to consider as "very advanced" and "difficult to realize” and improve her design ability. At the same time, Zoey mentioned that this project needed to turn the design ideas into products, which pushed her to focus on the design specifications and requirements and think about how to implement the design ideas.


On the other hand, they have also improved their comprehensive abilities significantly. "My communication ability has been greatly improved including close and efficient communication with the team members and the suppliers," said Haven. Fiona mentioned that in the process of completing this project, it was challenging for her to balance study and this activity. Self-management and time management skills were required, and she felt that she has improved a lot in this regard. 


Obviously, the students also gained a sense of accomplishment. “I am really honoured to have the chance to use my artistic expertise to serve the family members of our IB community in this event. After designing interesting products and sending them to classmates and teachers, I felt great and deeply satisfied!" Mily said.



If you want your child to advance academically and socially, their accepting artistic influence is the key. When neglecting their education in arts, we compromise their chance of success and creative engagement in the 21st century.

The IB curriculum advocates holistic education. In addition to a wealth of academic courses, arts, as one of the six IBDP subject groups, occupy an important position in the IBDP curriculum system. Art education not only allows students to master skills, but also enables them to understand themselves and the world through art, learn to express their feelings and thoughts in the form of art, and at the same time improve their aesthetic ability, creativity, and independent inquiry ability.

IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition

Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme will hold the IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition on Thursday, April 6, 2023. This event will celebrate the culmination of two years of hard work by the G12 students. Prior to this exhibition, our students put a lot of effort and countless hours into art workshops, technical experiments in art, creative ideas and so on! Together with the works of G12 students, excellent works from students of other grades will also be presented. This is definitely a celebration of students’ artistic journey and accomplishments, and we warmly invite everyone to join us and rejoice in this happy moment.
