Founding Students' Family

Right before the 2022 Christmas break, CISK celebrated its tenth birthday with the blessing of all teachers, students, and parents. In the past ten years, nearly 3000 teachers and students from more than 40 countries and regions have studied and lived at CISK. As time has gone by, CISK has witnessed and grown up with its students.

圣诞假期前夕，CISK在全体师生、家长的祝福下，庆祝了它的第十个生日。十年间，有来自40多个国家及地区的近三千名师生在CISK学习与生活。春华秋实，日落月升，CISK一路与孩子们彼此见证，彼此成长。

In previous articles, we reviewed the stories of CISKers in our school community. Today, we will introduce the story of Tiger and Archer from a two-child family at CISK.

在之前的一系列文章中，我们一起重温了CISK学生在我们大家庭中的点点滴滴。而今天，我们将一起来看看CISK一个多子女家庭——Tiger和Archer的故事。

Parental love for their children is far-reaching. For parents, it is very important to choose the best school for their children. The choice made by Tiger and Archer's mother, Ms. Li, was CISK. Tiger is now in the seventh grade. He has been at CISK since he was in Nursery, for ten years now. His younger brother Archer is now in the third grade and has been at CISK for five years. When talking about the factors in her school choice, Ms. Li had a clear criterion in her mind: "I only consider two aspects - one is the teachers, and the other is the teaching and learning atmosphere of the school." CISK undoubtedly fits Ms. Li's expectations as a mother.

父母之爱子，必为之计深远。对于一位家长而言，给自己的孩子选择一所优秀的学校非常重要。Tiger和Archer的妈妈李女士对此做出的选择就是CISK。Tiger如今七年级，从小班时就加入CISK，如今已经十年了；而弟弟Archer如今就读三年级，加入CISK也已经五年了。在谈到择校因素时，李女士心中有一把非常清晰准确的标尺：“我只会考虑两方面，一个是师资，还有一个是学校的教学和学习氛围。” 而CISK毫无疑问，很好地契合了李女士作为一位妈妈内心的期待。

The combination of competent teachers and the IB curriculum undoubtedly creates a great space for children to explore. When asked about their feelings about CISK, Tiger, and Archer both used the word "freedom".

CISK强大的师资与IB的理念相结合，无疑为孩子们创造了更广阔的探索空间。问及孩子们对CISK的感受时，Tiger和Archer不约而同都用到了“自由”这个词。

To Tiger's mind, CISK is a very open international school. "Here you can make many friends, learn things and broaden your horizons. You do not just learn subjects in the classroom, you can learn anything you want in the world." Good education gives every student respect and space to explore. Ms. Li is very happy that her children can learn and grow in this atmosphere.

在哥哥Tiger的心中，CISK是一所非常开放的国际学校。“在这里你可以交很多朋友，学习东西，拓宽你的视野。你不只是在教室里学习每一门学科，你可以学到世界上任何你想要的东西。”好的教育给予每一个学生充分的尊重，并且给予他们足够的空间去探索，李女士很开心，她的两个孩子能在这样的氛围里学习、成长。

Respect and Communication

尊重与沟通

In an environment emphasizing cooperation, communication and mutual respect are two key cornerstones. Every CISK student practices the two goals of "caring for others" and "strong communication". Ms. Li was also very happy to notice her children’s changes. "Tiger used to be timid and didn't dare to express his ideas in front of strangers. Later, he took the initiative to communicate with teachers and classmates. I think this has a lot to do with school education."

在一个强调合作的环境里，沟通与彼此尊重是两块重要的基石。每一位CISK学子都在身体力行“关爱他人”与“善于交流”这两项培养者目标。李女士也很开心发现了孩子身上的变化，“Tiger以前胆子比较小，在陌生人面前不太敢表达自己的想法。后来会更主动跟老师同学沟通了。我觉得这个跟学校的教育是有很大的关系的。”

Child growth cannot be separated from the two-way support of schools and families. Ms. Li shared her communication experience with Mr. Ryan. She hoped that when her children encountered problems, they could take the initiative to communicate with others, speak out about their difficulties or ideas, and ask teachers or classmates for help. Teachers also pay special attention to this problem. Tiger "improved his communication ability a lot" in the fifth grade.

孩子的成长离不开学校和家庭双向的支持。李女士分享了她与孩子的外教老师Mr. Ryan的沟通经历。她希望孩子遇到问题的时候能够主动跟人沟通，主动说出自己的困难或者想法，能向老师或者同学求助，而老师也特别重视这个问题。双管齐下，哥哥在五年级时“沟通能力增强了很多”。

Parents are a mirror of their children. Like her children, Ms. Li, who has been a CISK parent for ten years, also practices the importance of "communication" through words and deeds. Healthy home-school cooperation should not be a mechanical mode where one side gives orders to the other, but rather a communication mode where both sides respect and listen to each other. In this regard, Ms. Li appreciated CISK's practice of listening to parents. "If I have any problems and need to communicate with the school, for example, if I contact the school today, the school may make an appointment with me at a convenient time tomorrow or the day after tomorrow to listen to my problem."

父母是孩子的一面镜子，与CISK十年陪伴的李女士，和她的孩子一样，也在言传身教着“沟通”的重要性。健康的家校合作，不应该是一方下达命令另一方去执行的机械模式，而应该是双方彼此尊重互相倾听的交流与沟通。在这一点上，李女士欣赏CISK及时听见家长声音的做法，“如果我有什么问题需要跟学校沟通，比如说我今天跟学校联系，学校可能明天或者后天就会跟我预约双方方便的时间面谈，倾听我的诉求。”

What is a good education? Different people may have different answers. There are some common factors: respect for children's personalities, creating an open environment, respect for each other, and maintaining constant communication. Tiger and Archer's time at CISK demonstrates the firm trust and support of a family at a school. They cooperate, communicate, support, and grow with CISK. CISK has become a better school with them, and they have become better in the embrace of CISK.

好的教育究竟是什么？相信不同的人会有不同的答案。而总有一些因素是共通的：尊重孩子的个性，创设自由的环境，彼此尊重，在不断交流中随时更新。Tiger与Archer至今在CISK的成长时光，是一个家庭对一所学校的坚定的信任与全力的支持。他们与CISK彼此合作，彼此交流，彼此支持，彼此成长。CISK在他们的塑造下，成为更好的学校，而他们也在CISK的怀抱中，成为更好的自己。
