研学与CAS核心相结合的旅程有什么与众不同?|CAS Field Trip to Fujian

IB课程中,创意、活动、服务(CAS)项目是DP大学预科项目的三大基本要素之一,也是每位DP学生都必须完成的一个项目。通过鼓励学生参与一系列体验式的学习活动,CAS项目有助于促进学生个人及其人际关系的发展。最近,我们的MYP中学五年级学生和DP大学预科一年级学生前往福建省进行了一场研学之旅。短短一周,他们沉浸于一系列与创意、活动、服务息息相关的体验中,从中更新自我认知,并发掘团队合作、文化传承和个人成长的精髓。


As one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP), the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) program aims to foster personal and interpersonal development by encouraging students to engage in a range of experiential learning activities. Recently, our MYP5 and DP1 students embarked on a remarkable CAS field trip to Fujian province. Over the course of a week, they immersed themselves in a series of challenging but worthwhile experiences, discovering the essence of teamwork, cultural heritage, and personal growth.

精彩的研学之旅是以一场令人肾上腺素激增的铁道攀岩开始的。这场令人振奋的挑战活动让我们的学生尽情发挥着IB学习者的“冒险者”属性。在崎岖的“铁路”上,他们全副武装,勇敢地挑战极限,还因此收获了欣赏沿途自然风光的全新视角。令人敬畏的自然风光为学生进行自我反思、发展个人能力和与大自然建立更深层的连结提供了绝佳的背景,也为即将到来的富有意义的研学经历奠定了良好的基础。


The journey began with an adrenaline-pumping Via Ferrata climb, an Italian term that translates to "iron road". This exhilarating activity challenged the students to become risk-takers, pushing their boundaries and embracing new perspectives as they marveled at the scenic Chinese countryside. The awe-inspiring landscapes provided a backdrop to our students for self-reflection, personal growth and a deep connection with nature, setting the stage for the meaningful experiences that awaited them.


福建村落风景如画,而我们的学生也有幸在此处的传统土楼客栈中找到了一周的住所。在封闭的堡垒式外观下,这一土楼里住着80多户家庭。学生与当地居民的近距离生活,有益于培养深厚的社区意识。在与当地居民的日常相处中,我们的学生亦能体会到沟通和共情的重要性。


Nestled amidst Fujian's picturesque countryside, our students found their temporary home at a traditional Tulou guest house. These large enclosed and fortified structures have served as dwellings for up to 80 families for generations. Living in close proximity to local people allowed our students to foster a deep sense of community, where they learned the importance of communication and empathy, as every word spoken within the Tulou could be heard by their neighbors.



在客栈安顿好之后,此次研学项目的“重头戏”便登场了!在接下来的三天里,全体学生积极投入到修复一间具有200年历史的、曾经为商人和当地客家人所用的安全屋中。从清理场地、挖掘排水沟以防雨水渗透,到最后一天使用混凝土搅拌和浇筑,学生们同心合力地完成每一项任务,不遗余力地使历史建筑恢复活力。在团队合作的过程中,他们体会到了合作、坚持、进行服务性活动以及保护历史建筑的价值。


For the next three days, the entire group enthusiastically participated in the restoration of a 200-year-old refuge once used by traders and local Hakka people. Engaging in physical and service activities, our students embarked on various tasks to revitalize the historic structure. From clearing the area and digging trenches to prevent rainwater from entering the building, to the final day of mixing and pouring concrete, each student contributed to the collective effort. Through their dedicated teamwork, they discovered the power of collaboration, perseverance, and the value of providing service and preserving historic buildings.



当学生们共同协作修复历史建筑时,他们发现他们不是在单纯地修复一个物体结构,而是在建构着自己的认知。在修复过程中,他们所面临的挑战犹如日常生活中所遇到的阻碍,然而,通过坚持和毅力,他们不仅能获得了实用的技能,还发展了基本的生活技能,如解决问题、适应能力和领导能力。


As the students worked and built together, they discovered that they were not just restoring a physical structure, but also constructing their own personal growth. The challenges they faced during the restoration process mirrored the obstacles encountered in everyday life. Through persistence and resilience, they not only obtained practical skills but also developed essential life skills such as problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership.




除了体力劳动,学生们还深入探索了福建地区丰富的文化内涵。他们学习了复杂的制茶技艺,从梯田上采摘茶叶、试茶,到享用最终产品。在探索这一地区特有的不同梯田的同时,我们的学生也了解到了不同的建筑风格和文化的细微差别,而这些都是让福建变得与众不同的原因。通过这些体验,学生们对该地区的文化遗产和语言多样性有了更深刻的认识。


Beyond the service activities, our students also had opportunities to delve into the rich cultural tapestry of Fujian. They learned the intricacies of the art of tea-making, starting from hand-picking leaves in the mountains to skillfully serve and savoring the exquisite final product. Through these experiences, students developed a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage and linguistic diversity of the area.

在研学旅程接近尾声时,为了表达对项目协调员和当地社区的感激之情,我们的学生向他们捐赠了曾在学校举行烘焙义卖活动所筹得的资金。


As the field trip drew to a close, our students expressed their gratitude towards our program facilitators and the local community by donating the funds collected from bake sales held at our school prior to the trip.

The TWIS students' field trip to Fujian remains etched in their hearts as an unforgettable journey of growth and cultural immersion. Their experiences seamlessly intertwined with the principles of the IB CAS program, transcending the confines of the classroom. The restoration project and cultural explorations cultivated an enduring appreciation for historic buildings and broadened their global perspective. As they returned to the school, they carried with them the lasting impact of their experiences. Their journey exemplifies the profound influence of experiential learning, empowering them to become well-rounded, empathetic, and globally aware individuals.
