WELCOME FROM
ARDINGLY COLLEGE, UK
We are delighted by the progress being shown in all aspects of Ardingly College Zhongshan and are excited by the growing partnership between Ardingly College, UK and Ardingly College Zhongshan. As the ACZS(Kindergarten) opened in September 2022 we look to the future development of the rest of the campus with excitement as we near the grand opening of the rest of the school.
Ardingly College Zhongshan is a truly amazing school and we are very proud to be working closely with the team to ensure that an excellent quality of education is provided to China's new generations so that they are prepared to be 'World Ready' in a similar way to that at ACUK.
Firstly though we'd like to share with you a little about the origins and history of Ardingly College, UK.
Ardingly College was founded at Shoreham-by-sea, in 1858, on the south coast of England near Brighton, by the educationalist Canon Nathaniel Woodard and the foundation stone of our magnificent main red-brick building was laid on 12 July 1864 near Ardingly Village, close to the town of Haywards Heath in Mid Sussex.
The figure of a pelican is the symbol of Ardingly. Legend has it that she would feed her young with her own blood. The Pelican also speaks of making sacrifices for others, something at the heart of Ardingly’s ethos and similar to the Chinese concept that teachers are like candles which use their fuel to enlighten their students.
As time passes, one of the most significant educational changes at Ardingly College was the adoption of the IB Diploma Programme in 2001 alongside A Levels. This contributed significantly to an intentionally international mindset at the college that has served us well as we develop a family of Ardingly International schools.
World Ready education, is the way that can empower and transform children’s lives, which seeks to engage students caring for the world around them, enable them to acquire future core literacy and become collaborative and resilient learners.
Since 2020 we have developed a strong relationship with the Ardingly College Zhongshan team, helping to draft and refine the educational vision and ethos, design of the school, marketing and branding, and recruitment of key staff.
