As Long As You're Involved, It's The Best Work
We focus more on the process of the activity than the outcome. The EYC space is designed to give the children a great deal of space for exploration and hands-on display. We don't judge children by adult aesthetics, but rather by their willingness to participate. The communal space will display all the children's work as long as they want to and marvel at the children's learning journey. We want them to enjoy the process of creation, not just the outcome.
An Extension of the Classroom
The environment is set up in such a way that it closely mirrors the curriculum. We want to provide more space as an extension of the Little Lions Curriculum and often go beyond the boundaries of the classroom to more relevant places, so that children are equipped to learn and think anywhere, anytime, and to be able to apply it, one of the attributes of a lifelong learner.
A Bilingual Environment that Opens the Door to the World
Echoing the curriculum, each corner tells a story, providing a pathway to bilingualism and stimulating linguistic curiosity in young learners. Applying language to each environment immerses children in a bilingual world, which helps them learn more about different cultures and ways of thinking.

When it comes to the Lower School, every classroom space is dotted with each pupil's "sparkles". The blackboard is no longer just a teacher's tool, but rather the 'initiative' is given back to the children, who are encouraged to express themselves artistically and intellectually at any time; on the display wall, each child's learning is shown, and we hope that every marvellous and interesting idea is made visible to a wider audience.

In Grade 2, we have been working thematically around Beegu, a simple and bittersweet story about an alien who is lost on Earth and wants nothing more than to find a friend. We hope that each child will put themselves in the story, think about the problems and dilemmas of the characters, and be able to face the unknown with love and courage in the future.
We also use Beegu to develop reading comprehension skills, write character descriptions, practise writing in first and third person and retell stories. To improve reading comprehension, the pupils read and annotated to sequencing and retelling the story in their own words, in the process greatly increasing the children's confidence in writing. At the end of the day, each child created a poster of the 'Beegu', where everyone expressed their understanding of the story in words and drawings.
In Grade 3, we have been working on the theme of James and the Giant Peach by filming news broadcasts and writing reports about the giant peach. The children independently wrote press releases and completed news shoots, and the little journalists completed a fantastic news broadcast for us in front of the camera!

At Harrow Chongqing, we use cross-curricular teaching in many suitable topics, in order to allow learners who are less confident or interested in a particular subject to still enjoy their learning. For example, in the Beegu story, we extend more vocabulary about planets, spaceships, stars, Earth and space through aliens, integrating with science lessons to learn the English names of other planets in our solar system; or in the themed lesson on James and the Giant Peach, we enrich flexibility in vocabulary by writing news broadcasts about giant peaches in English lessons, while in science lessons we focus on the life cycle of a peach and the conditions required for a plant to grow fully and remain healthy. From germination to fruiting, the children witnessed the growth cycle of a peach and experienced the progress of their own growth.
Every child has a point of interest and sparkle, this is something we firmly believe in. Often, children may not like a subject they are learning, which is why it is important to combine that subject with their favourite topics, to keep children engaged and enthusiastic about learning by solving problems through content they are more familiar with and comfortable learning. The presentation of each subject blends perfectly, making the learning environment feel like a canvas of infinite creativity, igniting visual stimulation and bursts of inspiration.
