大队委与中队委竞选上任




中国少年先锋队作为党创立和领导的中国少年儿童的群团组织,是建设祖国的预备队。这样的少先队组织在哈罗礼德学校中有其独特的教育意义,也成为了在培养少年领导力的核心组织之一。

本学年哈罗横琴少年先锋队新一届的大队委和中队委已竞选上任,他们热情地投入到学校的各种活动中,目的是保持少先队的荣誉,培养队员们的精神面貌。



目前,他们每周都会与低年级的校长本思德先生开会,研究、讨论、布置工作,交流工作经验, 包括讨论课间时间的值班安排,及通过各式活动团结每位同学。接下来,学校也会致力培养少先队员成为未来升旗仪式的主持人或升旗手,持续为国旗队伍注入新血夜。

小时候,我经常看到大哥哥们抗着国旗落落大方地走着正步迈向旗杆,当时的我真的有幻想过自己成为一名国旗手的样子,是那么的美好,那么的庄严,可是后面发现我的一次次机会都被错过了,但是我心中想要加入国旗队的想法从未烟消云散,直到我来到了哈罗横琴,学校给予了我当人国旗队一员的机会,在正式出旗的那天,我终于穿上了那套我心心念念的“战袍”, 当看着国旗冉冉升起,并随风在空中飘扬时,心中的自豪感油然而生,并且我知道,这面国旗是由我们升起来的!

在以前的学校,每个星期一的早晨,我都会看到鲜红的国旗在护旗手的护送下,交到升旗手的手里。升旗手在雄壮的国歌声中拉动旗绳,将国旗升至空中。每当这个时候,眼望迎风招展的国旗,我的心中都会产生一种自豪感,同时也对升旗手产生了羡慕之情。我想,什么时候我能成为一名升旗手,亲手把庄严的五星红旗升上祖国天空。终于来到哈罗,我当上了我梦寐以求的职位,我想要感谢我的老师和同学们,感谢老师给予我这次机会,特别是汤老师,引领着我们练正步才造就了如今的我,我要感谢我的护旗手队友们,是你们对我无微不至的关照与支持,才帮助我成为了更好的自己。

被选为旗手是一项巨大的荣誉,这让我充满自豪和责任感。我之所以选择成为一名旗手,是因为它象征着团结和领导力。成长为一名旗手意味着从小就要培养责任、纪律和尊重等品质。这不仅仅只是手握一面旗帜,这关于着肩负学校和国家的责任和精神。

升旗仪式对我来说是一件十分重要的事情,标志着每个上学日的开始。它传输着责任感和尊重感。而恰巧升国旗放大了这些感受,将我与我珍贵的国家“传承”联系起来,代表了哈罗多元化群体的团结。而正是因为中国国旗体现了坚持、和谐、进步等价值观,才能更好的反映哈罗公学所秉持的原则。

在我七年级的时候,我看着国旗队里八年级的学⻓们站在国旗下那英俊的模样,我就想着有一天我也要加入国旗队。我抱着激动的心情向老师毛遂自荐,老师也同意了我的请求,就是从那时开始到现在我在国旗队里也快待了两年。

在这近两年的时光里,我觉得加入国旗队对于我的成⻓有很大的帮助。这个⻆色要求我时刻保持纪律和专注,在每次升旗仪式上发挥表率作用。这种责任感使我更加自律和有组织,提升了我的领导能力和管理技能。此外,作为旗手,我不仅代表自己,更代表着整个学校,这让我认识到自己行为的重要性和对其他人的影响力。

多年前,我记得我和我的同学们站在一起,齐声唱着我们的国歌,看着我们国家的旗帜,在微风中升起,飘扬。而不久前的一个星期天早晨,我和妻子在北京观看天安门广场上的升旗仪式...... 当一轮火红的太阳从地平线上缓缓升起,照亮了整个北京的天空的时候,升旗方队从紫禁城的城门中整齐地走出来,他们脸上洋溢着自豪的神情,眼中闪烁着光芒。看着身边的人们热泪盈眶地注视着、参与着这一重要时刻,我感慨万千。这些都是非常深刻的记忆。

我们学校最重要的活动和仪式之一就是升旗仪式。在升旗仪式上,我们青春洋溢的学生自豪地扛着中国国旗,全校师生高唱国歌。随着微风拂过,中国国旗缓缓升起… 我喜欢看到我们的孩子们的眼睛和脸上表露出同样的自豪和对国家的热爱。我们的中国文化传统确实深深地扎根在我们的心中。

Whenever the bright five-starred red flag is hoisted, a strong sense of identity and belonging rushes through the hearts of students. It all begins with wearing the red scarf, which symbolizes the "corner of the national flag." As they mature, they become honor guards who bear the flag. During their journey, the fluttering red flag serves as a constant companion and mentor, guiding the growth of Harrow students.

China Young Pioneer is a group organization of Chinese children and teenagers established and led by the Communist Party of China. It is a reserve force for building the motherland. Such a Young Pioneers organization has its unique educational significance in Harrow LiDe School and has become one of the core organizations in cultivating young leadership.

The new leaders of the Harrow Hengqin Young Pioneers have been elected this academic year and have enthusiastically participated in various school activities. The purpose is to maintain the honor of the Young Pioneers and cultivate the spiritual outlook of the members.



Currently, they meet with Mr. Benstead, the Head of the Lower School, every week to study, discuss, and assign work, exchange work experience, including discussing the duty schedule during break time, and unite each student through various activities. Next, our school will also strive to cultivate Young Pioneers to become future hosts or flag bearers for flag-raising ceremonies, continuously injecting new blood into the national flag team.

The flag bearers in Harrow Hengqin not only bear the heavy responsibility of raising the national flag, but also convey a spirit, that is, the love for the motherland, respect for the school, and the requirements for oneself. The flag bearers talked freely about their understanding of the flag-raising ceremony.

When I was a child, I often saw my older brother, walking in marching towards the flagpole during the national anthem. At that time, I dreamed of becoming a national flag bearer, which was so beautiful and solemn. Later, I found that every opportunity I had was buried, but the idea of joining the national flag team never disappeared from my heart. Until I came to Harrow Hengqin, where the school gave me the opportunity to be a member of the national flag team. On the day of flag rising, I finally put on the set of dress that I had been longing for, and when I watched the flag rising and fluttering in the air with the wind, I felt a sense of pride in my heart, and I knew that the flag was raised by us!

Since my old school days, every Monday morning, I would see the bright red flag escorted by the flag bearer and handed to the flag-raiser. The flag-raiser would then pull the rope to lift the flag into the air amid the majestic national anthem. Whenever I looked at the flag waving in the wind at this time, my heart would produce a sense of pride, but also envy for the flag raiser. I would think, “When can I become a flag-raiser and personally put the solemn five-star red flag in the sky of the motherland?” One day, I finally got the position I had dreamed of in Harrow. I would like to thank my teachers and classmates for giving me this opportunity, especially Mr. Mike Tang, who led us to practice marching every day and made me who I am today. I would also like to thank my flag-bearer teammates for their meticulous care and support, which helped me become a better version of myself.

Being selected as a flag bearer is a great honor that fills me with pride and a sense of responsibility. I chose to become a flag bearer because it symbolizes unity and leadership. Growing up as a flag bearer means cultivating qualities such as responsibility, discipline, and respect from a young age. It’s not just about holding a flag, it’s about carrying the responsibility and spirit of the school and the country.

The flag-raising ceremony is a very important event for me, marking the beginning of each school day. It conveys a sense of responsibility and respect. And raising the national flag amplifies these feelings, connecting me with my precious national “heritage” and representing the unity of Harrow’s diverse community. It is precisely because the Chinese national flag embodies values such as perseverance, harmony, and progress that it better reflects the principles upheld by Harrow School.

When I was in Grade 7, I saw the Grade 8 flag bearers standing under the national flag with their handsome appearance. I dreamed of joining the national flag team one day. With an excited heart, I volunteered to be a flag bearer to my teacher. My request was approved, and I have been a member of the national flag team since then, almost two years now.

In these past two years, I feel that joining the national flag team has helped me grow a lot. This role requires me to maintain discipline and stay focused at all times, and set an example during every flag-raising ceremony. This sense of responsibility has made me more self-disciplined and organized, enhancing my leadership and management skills. Additionally, as a flag bearer, I represent not only myself but also the entire school, which has made me realize the importance of my actions and the impact they have on others.


Dr. Max Caruso, Harrow Hengqin Head Master, also has a deep love for traditional Chinese culture and history. At the same time, he has a unique insight and in-depth understanding of the flag-raising ceremony.

Many years ago, I recall standing with my class, at attention, as we proudly sang our national anthem, and watched the flag of our nation, rise and flutter in the breeze. Fast forward to the more recent past, my wife and I were in Beijing, sunrise on a Sunday morning. A stunning Beijing sky, with a burnt orange sun, rising majestically on the horizon, we watched in awe the Flag Raising Ceremony in Tiananmen Square… the Flag Raising Troupe, emerging in stunning synchronicity, with proud faces and glints in their eyes, from the gates of the Forbidden City. Feeling a deep emotion, glancing at the people around me who with tears in their eyes watched and participated in this moment of significant ceremony. These are indelible memories.

Therefore, one of our most important events and ceremonies in our school is the Flag Raising Ceremony… our young men and young women, proudly carrying the flag, our school singing the national anthem, as the Chinese Flag rises with the breeze to its apex of pride. I love to see the same glint of pride and love of country in the eyes and faces of our children. Our Chinese Cultural Heritage is indeed close to our hearts.
