The students have accumulated vocabulary and grammar related to the topics. During online classes, we did a lot of oral practice and this weekend they will apply what they have learned to introduce CISH and the colors that their family members like. I am so proud of our students' ATL skills in self-management and looking forward to their presentation on Monday.

G10 (Ms. Echo & Ms.Miko)

In Ms. Echo and Miko's grade 10, language literature has been learning novel. To give students more opportunities to participate, while studying the novel "Border Town," students start with a group brainstorming session to discuss the characters that have left a deep impression on each of them. Early Years Highlights

CISH

Pre-K

Polly Coronel and Kirsten Hernandez

We had fun learning about fruits this week. In our activity, we pretended to pick apples from our indoor apple tree using pictures. There was lots of fun counting and naming colors.

We also had story-time sessions about fruits. Then, we dove into the world of fruits, talking about their colors and sizes to get everyone excited. As we read the stories, the kids got really involved, answering simple questions. Finally, the session end with suggestions for extension activities that families can continue at home. This could include pretend-grocery play, fruit tasting and washing fruits.

K1

Erin Wang and Sati Tadevosyan

This week, we're learning about the number 9 in math. We practiced writing the number 9 on SeeWo and used playdough to shape it. Students used multiple materials from home to form the number 9 and created ABAB patterns, using colors, size, and items. In Language Arts, we learned about the letter sound /e/. We played letter games and looked for things that start with the letter e in our mystery box. In our inquiry class, we started our new unit called "How the World Works" and focused on travel. We played games to guess transportation sounds, matched flashcards with toy vehicles, played with jigsaw puzzles, and made our own playdough vehicles.

K2

Katie Reddington, Sue MacDonald and Mika Allicer

This week, K2 students have been learning words and letters through play-based writing and fun games such as word puzzles, alphabet matching, and letter recognition activities. These games have been designed to make the learning process engaging and enjoyable for the students while also helping them develop essential language skills. The combination of play-based learning activities, practice drills, and mini-presentations has helped the K2 students enhance their language skills and develop a strong foundation in literacy. Moving forward, we will continue to incorporate these engaging and effective teaching methods to support the students' ongoing learning and growth.

K3

Dean Fletes and Anuschka Etsebeth

This week, K3 embarked on an exciting journey as we introduced them to the central idea of our plant unit through the story of ‘The Giving Tree’. Through this activity, we encouraged the students to make meaningful connections between the story and the unit’s central theme. By exploring new and unfamiliar words, we provided students with an opportunity to expand their vocabulary and gain a deeper understanding of the concept of life and living things. For this, we asked them to sort different items into categories of living and non-living things. Additionally, we took some time to share our holiday experiences. Creating sketches to share with our classmates was a fun experience that brought us together and allowed us to showcase our creativity.

EY German Class

K1 (Yani Wang)

K1's German class this week is about getting around. We first learned German names for vehicles like cars, taxis, bikes, trucks, and police cars. Students can talk about their own experiences with these. Next, we learned about vehicles that don't travel on land, like planes, hot air balloons, submarines, and cable cars. Students learn to make simple sentences about how we use these vehicles. For example, "cars drive on roads", "trains run on tracks", "submarines go underwater", and "rockets fly to space".

The students showed interest in castles, a special kind of home. We explored how castles and palaces differ and made our own crowns. We also learned the German song "Where is My Mom?". The students wore animal headscarves and performed the song in an enjoyable way in our German class.

This week in K3 German, we're talking about fairy tales, like Sleeping Beauty. First, we read the Sleeping Beauty story. Students picked roles like Sleeping Beauty, the Prince, and the Witch to act out the song.
