An English proficiency test usually includes listening, speaking, reading, writing, like ESL test or the most well known IETLS or TOEFL. You may hear some people say such an English test preparation is so difficult. One of main reason is because so much information is out there, and students do not know which sources they can trust. A test like IETLS can take months, sometimes years of hard work and thousands of dollars in tuition and test fees, so there is a lot of pressure to get it right the first time. Honestly, to answer to the question “ how can I prepare for the English language test quickly?”, the answer will be different for every person. It is hard to provide one solution that will help everyone. However, there are still some standard procedures which indicate what you must improve.

3. Improve your English level to ace the test

4. Sharpen your test skills by doing practice tests

5. Check your progress 

6. Register for the test

The most of English schools can help you to understand the test format and its marking system. However, to ace the test, Simply studying testing skills and doing practice tests will not be enough if your level of English is not high enough. It is the slowest part of your preparation. Take IETLS as example, most English schools recommend at least 6 months to improve a student’s level of English by the equivalent of 0.5- 1 band score. It is also the case for most of the students in our school.

To improve your English level for the tested four parts, the first thing you should do is to expand your vocabulary. No matter if you need to show off your impressive range of vocabulary in the exam or if you still need the most frequent words for the most basic communication or just to get you start writing, you will need to expand your vocabulary. Most of the students in our school are still struggling get started to talk and write with the most frequent vocabulary.

Then, writing daily journey in English is just great for your mind. it’s also a fantastic way to strengthen your ability to form sentences.  

To prepare the speaking test, you need to have English surrounded you and practice speaking regularly in real-life conversation. you need to create sentences spontaneously which forces you to think about the right vocabulary, and you also receive listening practice and real-time feedback.

Reading allows you to take in the language at your own pace, and it’s also a fun and interesting way to develop your knowledge. For the students in our school, reading the textbooks of the other subjects are a perfect reading practice.

The last: don’t forget to listen!

You can practice your listening skills in two ways: active listening or passive listening. Active listening means giving your full, committed attention to listen to a piece of news or listing practice materials and writing notes as you listen. Take notes whenever you learn a new word or spot any gaps in your vocabulary.

Passive listening is where you listen while doing other activities, like cleaning your room or walking the dog. It still counts as listening practice, but it’s less focused and can be done in your “resting” times.

Once you’ve topped up all the skills you need with these above study habits, you will need to put everything you’ve learned into practice with the test material.

Testing skills combined with a high level of English, it would result in a high score.

为了提高学英语水平，你应该做的第一件事就是扩展你的词汇量。无论你是否需要在考试中展示你的词汇量，或是你只需要最频繁的单词来进行基本的交流，再或是只为开始写作，你都需要扩大你的词汇量。我们学校的大多数学生仍在努力掌握最常用的词汇。

然后，用英语写下每天的学习过程对你的大脑非常有益，这也是增强你造句能力的一个绝妙方法。

为了准备口语测试，你需要一个英语环境，并在现实生活中定期练习口语。你需要自发造句，迫使你思考正确的词汇，你还需要接受听力练习和实时反馈。

接下来就是尽可能多地阅读。阅读可以让你按照自己的节奏学习语言，也是发展知识的一种有趣的方式。对于我们学校的学生来说，阅读其他科目的课本是一种完美的阅读练习。

最后一点：别忘了练习听力！

你可以通过两种方式练习听力：主动听力或被动听力。积极倾听是指全神贯注地听一条新闻，或者在听的时候列出练习材料并写笔记。每当你学习一个新词或发现词汇表中的任何空白时，都要做笔记。

被动倾听是指你在做其他活动时倾听，比如打扫房间或遛狗。它仍然算作听力练习，但注意力不那么集中，可以在你的“休息”时间进行。

一旦你用上述学习习惯掌握了所需的所有技能，你就需要把所学的一切都用测试材料付诸实践。

测试技能、应试技巧，与较高水平的英文能力相结合，会得到高分。

由于备考是一个漫长的过程，为确保能够合理安排时间，所以有必要制定一个行动计划。
