At Qingdao International School of Shandong (QISS), we believe in the power of student-centred learning and student voice. Our Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) offer a chance for students to take ownership of their educational journey, reflect on their progress, and set meaningful goals for their future.


SLCs at QISS are designed to place students at the heart of the conversation. Rather than traditional parent-teacher conferences, where teachers predominantly lead discussions, SLCs empower students to present their own work, discuss their achievements, and identify areas for improvement. This not only fosters a sense of responsibility but also encourages self-reflection and active engagement in their individual learning process.


在QISS,我们相信学生声音的力量。我们的 “学生主导会议”(SLCs)为学生们提供了一个能够掌握自己的教育历程,反思自己,并为未来制定有意义目标的机会。


SLCs的目的是让学生成为对话的核心。以往的家长会主要由教师主持,而SLCs则让学生自己成为主导,展示自己的作品、讨论自己的成绩并找出需要改进的地方。这不仅培养了学生的责任感,还鼓励他们进行自我反思,积极参与个人的学习过程。

One key benefit of our SLCs is that they help students develop essential life skills. By preparing for and leading these conferences, students enhance their communication and public speaking skills, boost their confidence, and learn to articulate their thoughts clearly. These skills are invaluable, not just within the classroom but in everyday interactions and future endeavors.

SLCs provide a holistic view of each of our student's learning journey. Students in Lower School are showing parents examples of their work throughout the year, showing progress in their workbooks and sharing beautiful creations and photos from Seesaw. Our Middle and Upper School students are responsible for gathering and organizing their own work, reflecting on their progress throughout the year, and sharing their thoughts with their parents and teachers using a PPT. This process of self-assessment and reflection is crucial in helping students understand their strengths and areas for growth. It also enables them to take an active role in setting realistic and achievable goals.

For our parents, SLCs offer a unique insight into their child's experience and learning journey at QISS. Instead of only receiving information from teachers, parents have the opportunity to hear directly from their children. This direct communication also strengthens our home and school partnerships, allowing parents to better support their child's learning. It also encourages parents to celebrate their child's achievements and understand the challenges they may have faced or may face in the future.

These conferences also provide valuable information for teaching staff on their teaching methods and help them understand how students perceive their own learning. This can support teachers to reflect, plan and differentiate their instruction to better meet the needs of each individual student.

SLCs全面地展示了每个学生的学习历程。小学部的学生们通过向家长展示自己的作业来展现自己的进步。初中和高中部的学生们收集和整理自己的作品,反思自己一年来的进步,并用PPT的形式与家长和老师分享。这一过程有助于学生了解自己的优势和缺点,使他们能够制定切实可行的目标。

对于家长们来说,SLCs让他们对孩子在QISS的学习历程有了独特的了解。与只从老师那里获取信息不同,如此一来,家长有机会直接聆听孩子的心声。这种直接的交流方式加强了我们的家校合作关系,使家长能够更好地支持孩子的学习。它还鼓励家长为孩子取得的成绩喝彩,并了解学生可能面临的挑战。


会议为老师们提供了有关教学方法的宝贵信息,帮助他们了解学生对自己学习的看法。还支持老师进行反思、规划并因材施教,更好地满足每个学生的需求。

부모에게 SLCs는 자녀의 QISS에서 학습 과정에 대한 독특한 이해를 제공합니다. 선생님에게만 정보를 얻는 것과 달리 학부모는 아이의 목소리를 직접 들을 수 있는 기회를 갖게 됩니다. 이 직접적인 커뮤니케이션 방법은 저희 학교의 협력 관계를 강화하여 부모가 자녀의 학습을 더 잘 지원할 수 있도록 합니다. 또한 부모가 자녀의 성과에 갈채를 보내고 학생들이 직면할 수 있는 도전에 대해 이해하도록 권장합니다.


회의는 교사들에게 교수법에 대한 귀중한 정보를 제공하고 학생들이 자신의 학습을 어떻게 생각하는지 이해하는 데 도움이 됩니다. 또한 교사가 각 학생의 요구를 더 잘 충족시키기 위해 반성, 학습 계획 설정 및 차별화된 교육 구현을 수행하는 데 도움이 됩니다.
