六月莺歌燕舞日，又到粽叶飘香时。为更好地弘扬中华民族传统文化，让学生在活动中感受传统节日魅力，6月7日下午，OCIS成功举办了端午节系列主题活动。

June is the season of bird tweets and usually when the Loong Boat festival approaches. While the reed leaves for making Zongzi are permeating fragrance, OCIS is hosting themed activities on the afternoon of June 7th,  to better celebrate Chinese traditional culture and to make students experience the charm of traditions. 

本次活动小学部全体师生参与，包括赛龙舟、运龙珠、水漫龙舟、打五毒、色彩猜序、传花生等游戏。

All teachers and students of the primary school participated in this activity, including Loong Boat racing, floating Loong Boat, Loong ball move, hitting five venoms, colour matching, passing the peanuts.

每个班级把精心设计、制作的龙舟放到小溪中，用风筝线牵引比赛，加油声、呐喊声不断，孩子们既兴奋又紧张，节日的气氛充满整个校园。

Each class put the elaborately designed and made Loong Boats into the stream, and pulled the boats with the kite line. Cheers and shouts continued. The children were excited, and the festive vibe was intensive on campus.

老师们把五毒设计成洞洞板，让学生用沙包射打；用体能棒小组合作传递龙珠；通过接力的形式把水桶灌满；用数学逻辑解决“五毒”位序问题。

The teachers cut holes on a board marking the five venoms, Students tried to shoot sandbags through the holes; they utilized power of fitness to collaborate in small groups to pass the Loong ball; relayed to fill buckets with water; applied mathematical logic to solve the problem of "color match".

所有的游戏都充满了奇思妙想，充分将传统元素融入到体育竞技中，使传统端午活动更具趣味性，在乐享游戏的同时，孩子们也从不同角度体悟传统民俗，感受文化魅力，整个活动现场气氛活跃、欢声笑语、热闹非凡。

All games were full of imaginative ideas, integrating traditional elements into fun competitions, to make the Loong Boat Festival more interesting. While enjoying the games, children also appreciated traditional folk customs from different perspectives and experienced the Charmin culture. The entire event was lively and joyful.

文化是一个国家、一个民族的灵魂。在五千多年文明发展中孕育的中华优秀传统文化，积淀着中华民族最深层的精神追求，代表着中华民族独特的精神标识。OCIS的学生终有一天会走向世界，希望同学们从中华文化中汲取营养，涵养自己的“中国心”，努力扎稳中华文化的根脉，并将其带出国门，让悠悠古国的文化底蕴，在异国他乡生根发芽。

Culture is the soul of a country or a nation. The excellent traditional Chinese culture nurtured over 5000 years of civilization embodies the deepest spiritual pursuit of the Chinese nation and represents the unique spiritual identity. OCIS students will eventually go global, hoping that they can draw nourishment from the Chinese culture, cultivate their "Chinese roots", work hard to actively celebrate the Chinese culture, and bring it abroad, so that the cultural heritage of the ancient country can take root and sprout in foreign lands.
