Romy Niu,

a graduate of the class of 2024 at Farragut,

has been admitted to University of Waterloo.


Romy,一个在国际化教育背景下成长起来的女孩,她的成长经历,如同一幅丰富多彩的画卷,每一笔都描绘着对生活的热爱和对梦想的执着。

Romy, a girl nurtured in an international educational environment, has a growth journey akin to a rich tapestry, with each thread depicting her passion for life and dedication to her dreams.


出生在充满书香气息的家庭,父母对Romy的教育投入了极大的关注和支持。从小,家庭鼓励她多去发现自己的兴趣和潜能。这样的开明与支持,为她日后的多元化发展奠定了坚实的基础。

Born into a family full of the fragrance of books, Romy's parents paid great attention and support to her education. From a young age, her family encouraged her to discover her interests and potential. Such open-mindedness and support laid a solid foundation for her diversified development in the future.


进入中学时期,在整体家庭教育规划的影响下,Romy的教育轨迹发生了重要转变。原本计划在国内完成基础教育再出国深造的她,在偶然的参观中被一所国际学校的教育模式深深吸引:这就是法拉古特学校。一节开放日的外教生物课,让她和家庭下定决心选择这里,完成高中三年学业。

Entering the middle school period, under the influence of the overall family education plan, Romy's educational trajectory took an important turn. She, who originally planned to complete her basic education in the country and then study abroad, was deeply attracted by the educational model of an international school during a chance visit: this is the Farragut School. An open-day biology class taught by a foreign teacher made her and her family determined to choose here to complete the three years of high school.


还记得第一次走进教室时那种紧张而又兴奋的心情,与来自不同文化背景的同学们顺利的交流让她很快就适应了这里。回顾三年时光,她自己会由衷的感激那些在学术和生活上曾给予她巨大帮助的老师们,他们专业水准和教学热情深深地影响了她。

I still remember the nervous and excited mood when I first walked into the classroom, and the smooth communication with classmates from different cultural backgrounds made her quickly adapt to here. Looking back on the three years, she would sincerely appreciate the teachers who have given her great help in academics and life, their professional level and teaching enthusiasm have deeply influenced her.


这里的小班教学、互动式学习以及开放的学术氛围,让Romy看到了教育的另一种可能性。

The intimate class sizes, interactive learning, and an open academic climate have allowed Romy to glimpse alternative possibilities in education.


在这里,她不仅在学术上取得了优异的成绩,还积极参与各类学术竞赛和课外活动。例如为了申请到加拿大最顶尖的大学:她参加过著名的欧几里得数学竞赛、AMC数学竞赛等,为大学展现出在数学领域的才华和热情。竞赛经历不仅锻炼了Romy解决问题的能力,也增强了她面对挑战时的自信和勇气。

Here, she not only achieved excellent academic results but also actively participated in various academic competitions and extracurricular activities. For instance, aiming to apply to Canada's top universities: she participated in the famous Euclid Mathematics Competition, AMC Mathematics Competition, etc., to show the university her talent and enthusiasm in the field of mathematics. The competition experience not only trained Romy's ability to solve problems but also strengthened her confidence and courage when facing challenges.


尽管在理科领域有着出色的表现,但她对艺术和表演艺术的热爱同样深厚。她多次参与学校的舞蹈和艺术表演,每一次的舞台经历都让她更加自信和享受生活。这种多元化兴趣的培养,不仅丰富了她的校园生活,也为她的个性发展增添了独特色彩。

Although she performed well in the field of science, her love for art and performing arts is equally profound. She has participated in the school's dance and art performances many times, and every stage experience has made her more confident and enjoy life. Cultivating such diverse interests not only enriched her campus life but also added a unique color to her personal development.

大学申请期间,为了准备申请材料,她花费了大量的时间和精力:不仅要保持良好的GPA,还要准备语言考试,参加各种竞赛和活动,以丰富和向大学展示自己的实力。回顾那段时光,她坦言那曾显得疲惫,但又非常充实。

During the university application period, in order to prepare for the application materials, she spent a lot of time and energy: not only to maintain a good GPA but also to prepare for language exams, participate in various competitions and activities, to enrich and show her strength to the university. Looking back on that time, she admitted that it seemed tired but very fulfilling.


因为有着明确的目标和坚定的决心,她也最终选择将CS作为专业方向。申请过程虽然充满挑战,但凭借自己的努力和学校提供的平台,最终收获了渥太华大学、滑铁卢大学等多所心仪大学的录取通知书。

Because of having clear goals and firm determination, she also finally chose CS as a professional direction. Although the application process is full of challenges, with her own efforts and the platform provided by the school, she finally received admission notices from the University of Ottawa, the University of Waterloo, and other ideal universities.


每个人的成长之路都不是一蹴而就,都是在不断自我探索和自我反思中缓步前行。回望三年,她感谢这所学校帮助自己找到定位,在追求学术卓越的同时,更保持了对兴趣爱好的追求;她还想感谢自己,每一次的选择和决定,都是对自己认知的深化和对生活理解的提升。

Everyone's growth path is not achieved overnight, but it is a slow progress in continuous self-exploration and self-reflection. Reflecting on her three years, she thanks this school for helping her find her position, while pursuing academic excellence, but also maintaining the pursuit of interests and hobbies; she also wants to thank herself, every choice and decision, is a deepening of her own cognition and an improvement of her understanding of life.


Romy的故事还在继续。面对即将到来的大学旅程,她充满了期待。希望能够在大学里继续学习计算机科学的同时,有更多的机会去探索自己的兴趣,如艺术和表演!

Romy's story is still going on. Facing the upcoming university journey, she is full of expectations. She hopes to continue studying computer science in college, and have more opportunities to explore her interests, such as art and performance!
