Participating in the British Biology Olympiad (BBO) has been an incredibly valuable learning and growth opportunity for me. The primary motivation for joining this competition stems from my long-standing passion for life sciences. I wanted to enhance my knowledge and practical application skills through the competition. Additionally, I plan to apply for a biomedical science programme in the future and pursue advanced studies in this field.

参加BBO的经历对我来说是一次非常宝贵的学习和成长机会。选择参加这次比赛的动因主要是我长期以来对生命科学的热情，想通过竞赛来提升自己的知识水平和实际应用能力，同时我也计划在未来申请生物医学专业并在该领域深造。

Overall, the BBO competition is rich in content, covering various fields of biology, from cell biology to genetics. The questions are presented from very unique angles. It is not merely about rote memorization of theoretical knowledge. It requires critical thinking and the ability to deduce correct answers from intricate details.

整体来说，BBO比赛内容丰富，涵盖了多个生物学领域，从细胞生物学到遗传学，出题角度十分的新颖，它不单单考察死记硬背的理论知识，更多是需要你的思辨能力，利用琐碎的细节推理出正确的答案。

During the preparation period, I received immense support from my school and my biology teacher, Ms Lindsay. They provided a wealth of study resources and guidance. My classmates and I also formed a study group, where we helped and motivated each other.

备赛期间，学校和生物老师Lindsay给予了我极大的支持，提供了丰富的学习资源和辅导，班上的同学们也一起组建备考小组，互相帮助和激励。

For students who are interested in participating in biology competitions, my advice is to focus on accumulating basic knowledge regularly. It is important to practise with past examination papers to familiarize yourself with the competition question types and key points. I also recommend keeping a dedicated competition binder, dividing it by chapters for more effective revision. Moreover, developing analytical skills is crucial. This not only helps in competitions but also greatly benefits future biology studies.

对于想参加生物竞赛的同学们，我的建议是平时要注重基础知识的积累，多做历届试题以熟悉竞赛题型和考点，建议专门准备一个竞赛的活页本，通过章节进行划分会使得复习更加有效。此外，培养分析能力也非常重要，这不仅对比赛有帮助，对未来的生物学学习也有很大益处。

I started to participate in biology competitions because I consider them an indicator of subject knowledge in biology reaching out of the IB curriculum. Participating in competitions are a fun way to learn above and beyond what is covered in class.  

我开始参加生物竞赛是因为我认为这是考验生物学知识的一种方式，超越了IB课程所涵盖的内容。参加竞赛是一个有趣的学习方式，可以让我学到更多课堂上没有涉及的知识。

The preparation process is very exciting and not too stressful. The content was definitely difficult but it was very interesting to learn about. 

准备过程非常令人兴奋，也没有太大的压力。内容确实很困难，但了解它们非常有趣。

There were many fields that I had not been familiar with in the past, in particular, biotechnologies. Learning about completely new content is always difficult at first but the payoffs are innumerable.  

在过去，有许多领域我并不熟悉，尤其是生物技术。学习全新的内容始终是困难的，但收获是无数的。

During the preparation process, our teacher was always there for us to answer our questions and provided support for difficult concepts. Classmates were also very supportive and offered lots of companionship. It is strongly advised to find a friend who can study with you and support you along the way. 

在备赛过程中，我们的老师始终在身后支持我们，解答疑惑，帮助我们理解复杂概念。同学们也给予了无私的支持和陪伴。建议大家找到一个可以共同学习、互相支持的朋友，共同进步，共同成长。

Generally, when learning biology, it's always very important to read textbooks and really understand the concepts profoundly. Never try to recite content but instead learn to make connections between topics and ensure that you are able to explain the biological processes.  

一般而言，在学习生物学时，阅读教科书并深刻理解概念是非常重要的。不要试图死记硬背内容，而是要学会建立各个主题之间的联系，确保能够解释生物过程。
