In the school year 2023-2024, LEH Foshan proudly continued its tradition of hosting Prep Talks in our Prep School. This eagerly anticipated event has become a cornerstone of our educational experience, nurturing students’ intellect, empathy, and confidence. Prep Talks provide a powerful platform to ignite curiosity and inspire a generation of thoughtful, articulate individuals.
This year’s theme, “Our Creative World,” draws inspiration from one of our 8C values: Creativity. It is a celebration of the boundless imagination and innovation that our students bring to their learning and lives. By sharing their stories and ideas, students not only feel empowered but also gain recognition for their unique perspectives.
The competition is structured to bring out the best in every participant. Students are tasked with preparing a Prep Talk of up to five minutes in length, focusing on the theme of creativity in their world. The journey to find our Upper and Lower Key Stage winners was both rigorous and rewarding, consisting of three competitive rounds.
Topic Research, Preparation & Practice
In the first round, all students are encouraged to stand on the stage and present their ideas, providing an opportunity for every voice to be heard and celebrated. This inclusive approach fosters confidence and camaraderie among the participants. In the second round, winners from round 1 faced a larger audience and a new set of judges. This stage emphasises the importance of refining their delivery and content, challenging students to elevate their presentations to new heights.
The final round is the highlight of the Prep Talks competition. Held in the school’s Hanbury Theatre, it is a grand event attended by all Prep students, teachers, and parents. Finalists from the Upper and Lower Key Stages delivered their Prep Talks to an enthusiastic audience and a panel of judges. The excitement was palpable as each student showcased their creativity, passion, and public speaking prowess. From exploring the wonders of art and music to delving into imaginative storytelling and innovative problem-solving, our students have captivated audiences with their insights and originality.
We are incredibly proud of all our participants and extend our heartfelt congratulations to our winners. Their outstanding performances have set a high standard and inspired us all. Prep Talks at LEH Foshan are more than just a competition; they are a celebration of our students’ creative potential and a step towards their bright futures.
