What are your educational and management philosophies?
My educational philosophy is centered on the belief that education should be holistic, nurturing both academic and personal growth. I advocate for active learning, where students engage with the material through discussions, projects, and hands-on activities, rather than passive reception. My management philosophy iscollaborative; I believe in working closely with teachers, students, and parents to create a shared vision for our school. Transparency, open communication, and mutual respect are key principles that guide my leadership. I also emphasize the importance of continuous professional development for teachers to keep our educational practices innovative and effective.
How does your experience in various cultural settings help you as the Principal at CISK?
My experience in different countries has equipped me with a deep understanding of and respect for cultural diversity, which is crucial in an international school setting. In the UK, I learned the importance of academic rigor; in Vietnam, I gained insights into integrating local and international curricula; and in China, I developed a keen sense of balancing tradition and modernity. These diverse experiences allow me to create an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported.
How do you plan to further integrate the core elements of the IB program at CISK?
I plan to integrate the core elements of the IB program by ensuring that the Extended Essay, CAS, and TOK are not just add-ons but are embedded deeply into our school's culture. For the Extended Essay, I will provide workshops on research skills and critical thinking. For CAS, I aim to develop community service projects that are meaningful and impactful, allowing students to connect their learning with real-world applications. For TOK, I will organize interdisciplinary seminars that challenge students to think deeply about knowledge and its implications. Collaborating with teachers, I will ensure these elements are seamlessly incorporated into classroom activities and assessments.
How do you use innovative teaching methods to meet the needs of every student?
To meet the diverse needs of every student, I promote the use of differentiated instruction, where teaching is tailored to the individual learning styles and abilities of students. I support the integration of technology in the classroom to create interactive and engaging learning experiences. Project-based learning is an approach I advocate, as it allows students to explore subjects in depth and apply their knowledge to real-world problems. Additionally, I encourage collaborative learning, where students work in groups to foster teamwork and communication skills. By continuously assessing and adapting our teaching methods, we can ensure that every student is challenged and supported.
What goals are you most excited to achieve with the CISK community?
I am most excited about building a strong, supportive, and dynamic community at CISK. My primary goal is to enhance academic programs and ensure that our curriculum not only meets but exceeds international standards. I also aim to strengthen our extracurricular offerings, providing students with a broad range of opportunities to explore their interests and talents. Another goal is to foster a culture of continuous improvement, where feedback is actively sought and used to make informed decisions. Lastly, I am committed to creating an environment where every student feels safe, respected, and motivated to achieve their best. By working together with teachers, staff, parents, and students, we can create a school community that is vibrant, inclusive, and dedicated to excellence in all aspects.
