Throughout its long history, 

Harrow has always fostered a vibrant culture of debate,

nurturing many alumni who became leaders with sharp, critical minds, such as Winston Churchill.

Through debate, students can appreciate the diversity 

of the world and develop broad perspectives,

while enhancing their thinking skills.

At the first AISL Harrow Debate Championship

last year, our students proved themselves 

to be excellent critical thinkers.

At the Global Chinese Debate Championship this year, the AISL Harrow debate team once again

advanced through rounds of challenge to win multiple awards as groups and as individuals.

The event has attracted teams from all over the world, including Australia, the USA and Asia.
After an intense elimination process 

among more than 500 schools worldwide,
the participants were whittled down to 

110 teams for the grand finals,
hailing from China, the US, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong SAR, etc.

The grand final, held in Hong Kong in August, saw many prestigious schools compete for the top prize,

including the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, Tsinghua University High School,

the Chinese International School, 

Wahaha Bilingual School Hangzhou,

Shanghai World Foreign Language Academy, and the King's School Shenzhen International.

The preliminary inter-campus writing competition alone attracted 300 students, while all participants took part in the debate div.

Our team comprised students from various AISL Harrow LiDe Schools and International Schools.

With ample opportunities to practise critical thinking and public speaking both inside and outside of school, pre-tournament writing and debate training,

and a solid foundation in Chinese language 

and culture, our debaters were able to perform confidently on stage, showcase their talents and win multiple awards:

Winning top prizes at two major Chinese debating championships in a row

has boosted our students' confidence enormously.

By competing with and learning 

from the world's best young orators,

and by improving their bilingual speaking and reasoning skills through extracurricular activities,

they will continue to stand out in international debate and public speaking tournaments, which will surely help with their top university admissions 

interviews in future.

We are sure there will be more 

glorious achievements to come.
