ENGLISH LANGUAGE DAY
英文教学的目标不应仅仅是增加词汇量,而是要给孩子的想象力插上翅膀,帮助他们放飞梦想,当孩子们对英文学习真正有了自己完整的解读与领悟后,其实他们已经架构了一个属于自己的美好世界,而这将是他们这一生都不可或缺的本领。
The goal of language teaching should not only be to increase vocabulary, but also to give wings to children's imagination and help them fly their dreams. When children truly have their own complete interpretation and understanding of English learning, they have actually constructed their own beautiful world, which will be an indispensable skill for their entire life.
11月1日,一年一度的全校英文日如期到来,作为“FANTASY LITERATURE MONTH”最重要的活动,Kevin老师延续“FANTASY”主题,为孩子们精心设计了一个充满热情、神秘、对抗的英文活动,下面请跟随镜头一起感受下吧~
On November 1st, the annual school wide English Day arrived as scheduled. As the most important event of "FANTASY LITERATURE MONTH", Mr. Kevin continued the theme of "FANTASY" and carefully designed a passionate, mysterious, and competitive English activity for the children. 本次活动仍以House为单位,各组负责老师为大家详细讲解了活动的意义和流程,孩子们认真聆听,满心期待。
This activity is still organized by House, and the responsible teachers of each group explained the significance and process of the activity in detail to everyone. The children listened carefully and were full of expectations.
区别于以往诗歌日、畅言日、写作日,今年的活动主题尤为轻松,更强调全员参与与团队协作:为了防止OCIS被魔法恶人攻击,学生们必须在校园各个角落寻找咒语,拼写单词,以完成OCIS保护计划。
Unlike previous Poetry Day, Speaking Day, and Writing Day, this year's event theme is particularly relaxed, emphasizing full participation and teamwork: in order to prevent OCIS from being attacked by magical villains, students must search for spells and spell words in every corner of the campus to complete the OCIS protection plan.
老师们精心藏好的单词线索遍布三栋教学楼和游乐场,孩子们你追我赶,互不相让,都想找到更多的线索。整个过程让学生们沉浸在生动有趣的互动中,快速领会并运用,是OCIS寓教于乐的重要体现。
The carefully hidden word clues by the teachers are scattered throughout the three teaching buildings and the playground, and the children are chasing after each other without giving up, all wanting to find more clues. The whole process immerses students in vivid and interesting interactions, allowing them to quickly understand and apply, which is an important manifestation of OCIS's educational and entertaining approach.
LITERATURE MONTH
文学月的用意在于,让学生们有机会接触到一些最伟大的、间接教授他们的老师,那些伟大的作家们。我们选择奇幻小说作为这次活动的主要文体,因为其能鼓励读者进行逻辑跳跃和运用想象力,同时也接触到那些有趣和有用的词汇。科学和数学可把我们带到了太空,带我们了解机器人和人工智能,但形成这些想法的是创造性写作和科幻小说。
激发孩子的想象力可以鼓励他们以不同的方式看待世界,在我们的闭幕活动中,我们更加深入地了解了这一点。我们不再教他们故事、背景、英雄和反派,而是让他们成为自己故事中的英雄,让他们经历一场冒险,我们作为老师,可以和学生一起回顾,鼓励他们思考,用他们自己的方式讲述他们自己的故事。
学生们可能玩得很开心,但他们也快乐的学到了重要的一课!
We introducedf our literature month to act as a gateway for students to access some of the greatest indirect teachers they will find, great authors. We chose fantasy as the key genre for this event as it encourages readers to make leaps of logic and use their imaginations, whilst often using interesting and useful vocabularies. Science and Maths may have taken us to space and given us robots and AI, but it was creative writing, fantasy and science-fiction that formed those ideas. Stimulating a child's imagination encourages them to look at the world in a different way and with our closing event we leaned into that even more heavily. Instead of teaching them about stories, settings, heroes and villains, we made them the heroes of their own story, allowing them to live an adventure that we, as teachers, can now look back on with the students and encourage them to think about, relating their own narrative in their own way. The students may have had fun, but they had fun learning some important lessons.
