ISA celebrated another very important and successful event on Friday and Saturday 1-2 November. It was the Sixth ISA Professional Learning Conference (PLC) and was again held at the ISA Science City International School campus. The second phase of the ISA Professional Learning Conference was held on 8-9 November at our ISA Wuhan campus. The ISA Board, ISA leaders and the entire ISA community are committed to the professional learning of staff as we know that this investment improves student learning and wellbeing, improves school operations, and creates a more successful ISA brand of education.
11月1日至2日,爱莎国际教育集团于爱莎科学城校区成功举办第六届爱莎专业学习大会(PLC)。同时,武汉爱莎的专业学习大会于11月8日至9日在武汉校区举办。爱莎董事会、领导层以及整个爱莎社区都致力于员工的专业学习,因为我们深知这项投入可以提升学生的学习成果和幸福感、改善学校的运营,并助力爱莎构建多元文化融合的国际教育生态系统。

The ISA Professional Learning Conference is now well-known in China and even internationally. Nine educational and health & wellbeing organisations based in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong, London and New York provided keynote speeches, seminars and workshops. Of equal importance, more than 100 ISA staff from academic and business fields provided workshops and shared examples of their best practice. All demonstrated that the primary goal of their practice was to improve student learning outcomes and student levels of wellbeing, both in direct and indirect ways. Of course, there were other goals as well.
爱莎专业学习大会现在在中国乃至国际上都享有盛誉。来自广州、上海、香港、伦敦和纽约的九家教育及健康组织为我们进行了主旨演讲并开展了一系列研习会。同时,超过100位爱莎教师和职能员工开设了研习会,并分享了他们的最佳实践案例。这些都展示了爱莎教职员工始终在工作中致力于提升学生的学习成果和幸福感。
Innovation for Success and a Bright Future

The theme for this year’s PLC was ‘Innovating for Success and a Bright Future’. This is an important theme for ISA as we are now in a phase of consolidation with nine schools and programmes. We interpret innovation as any new method of teaching, assessing, caring for children, managing operations, and using emerging technologies to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes. We rely on hard evidence to justify innovation as many new strategies and technologies from around the world might not have withstood the test of time. ISA is an aspirational organisation. We strive for success and excellence, and we know that innovation and professional learning play a major role in achieving these.
今年爱莎专业学习大会的主题是“创新 | 铸就成功 | 引领未来”。这一主题对爱莎至关重要,因为我们现已拥有九所学校和项目,正处于不断巩固发展的阶段。我们将创新理解为任何新的教学、评估、人文心智关怀、运营管理方法以及运用新兴技术提升学生的学习成果和幸福感。我们通过不断的实践来证明创新的合理性,因为许多来自世界各地的新策略和技术可能并没有经受住时间的考验。爱莎目标远大,我们追求成功和卓越,并深知创新和专业学习在实现这些目标中扮演着重要角色。
Informative, Inspiring and Engaging Workshops
互动研习会,干货满满
The centrepiece of our ISA Professional Learning Conference was the schedule of workshops, which spanned broad academic topics, including curriculum design, high-impact teaching, pastoral care, student assessment and reporting, research skills, critical thinking, use of AI in teaching, STEAM learning, best practice in Mathematics learning, and many more. Business topics included financial management, risk assessment, Council of International Schools (CIS) accreditation, organisational leadership and management, best practice in HR and marketing, intercultural communication, creative problem solving at work, and countless others.
爱莎专业学习大会的核心是众多的研习会,涵盖了广泛的学术主题,包括课程设计、高效教学、人文心智关怀、学生评估与报告、研究技能、批判性思维、人工智能在教学中的应用、STEAM学习、数学学习等。此外,面向职能员工的研习会主题包括财务管理、风险评估、CIS认证、组织领导和管理、人力资源和市场工作的最佳实践、跨文化交流、创新问题解决方式等等。
Most of our workshops were highly interactive. The facilitators provided relevant and valuable information, engaged audiences in small group discussion and reporting, and asked groups to solve real workplace issues – all within a framework of continuous improvement. There were many examples of informed and lively discussion with ideas recorded for future use. External facilitators brought significant knowledge and wisdom from other schools, systems and community organisations, especially in the fields of psychological care of children, staff wellbeing, leadership and management, and student pathways for success at university. There was a strong multicultural current flowing through the workshops. Also of value is the collection of PPT slides, videos, and other resources which will be saved to our ISA staff portal for future use.
此次大会的研习会有着高度互动性,并充满了多元文化的氛围。主讲人提供了干货满满的信息,员工积极参与小组讨论,致力于解决实际工作中的问题,讨论得出的干货可供将来工作中使用。外部主讲人带来了来自其他学校和社区组织的宝贵知识和智慧,尤其是在儿童心理关爱、员工福祉、领导与管理以及学生升学等领域。所有主讲人都准备了内容详尽的幻灯片和其他资料展示,这些资源在我们的网络上开放共享,供所有员工学习。
#Workshops in English and Chinese
中英双语呈现,构建多元文化社区
ISA is truly a multicultural educational ecosystem with many English and Chinese-language leaders, teachers and business staff. There was a suitable balance of workshops that were delivered in English, in Chinese and also bilingually. If we are to prepare young people for a multicultural and multilingual future, we need to set the example for children in our daily practice. The PLC does just this. Beyond this, there were many examples of workshops involving cross-programme and cross-language collaboration. This helps ISA fulfil its vision and mission of preparing globally-minded young men and women who will be successful studying abroad and working comfortably in China and other countries.
爱莎是真正的多元文化的教育生态系统,拥有众多中外籍领导者、教师和职能员工,此次研习会以英语、汉语和双语呈现。未来需要对文化多样性深刻理解的多语言人才,我们需在日常实践中为孩子们树立榜样,爱莎专业学习大会正是这样做的。此外,会议还包含了跨项目和跨语言合作的研习会,这与爱莎的愿景和使命相符合,即培养具有全球视野的年轻人,他们在海外留学和在中国及其他国家工作时都能够游刃有余。

The 2024 PLC offered seminars and workshops to ISA parents for the first time. They were highly successful, and with high attendance, had to be scheduled in lecture theatres and large rooms. Topics included seminars on effective parenting in the digital age, how parents can adopt the role of coaches and tutors, and how best to help children prepare for foreign university entrance and study. An interactive workshop saw parents in small groups engaging in activities focused on positive psychology and positive parenting with real-life scenarios in mind. Parents could also attend most of the 150 workshops on offer to staff. This new focus on parent development illustrates the commitment ISA has to ensuring quality community education and community partnerships.
2024年的爱莎专业学习大会首次为爱莎家长提供专题研习会。家长出席率很高,因而这些研习会安排在大礼堂和大教室举行。主题包括数字时代的育儿策略、如何成为教练型家长、中国高中生应了解的美国大学招生录取重要信息,以及运用积极心理学的“PERMA”理论进行积极育儿。除此之外,家长还可以选择参加提供给员工的150个研习会。爱莎一直以来致力于家校共育,与家长共同学习成长,以促进优质的爱莎社区教育和社区合作。
Keynote Addresses

Professor Rex Li, formerly of Fudan University and Founder of the Gifted Education Council, and G. T. College.in Hong Kong provided an interesting speech on the goals of Western and Eastern education. He dispelled myths and stereotypes that people have of different cultures and highlighted what he thought were important goals of education in both China and abroad.
复旦大学前教授、天才教育协会和香港G.T. College创始人李业富教授发表了关于东西方教育目标的精彩演讲。他破除了人们对不同文化的误解和刻板印象,并阐释了他认为的中西方教育的共同目标。
Mr Shawn Felton, recently the Director of Strategic Enrolment Initiatives, Cornell University, USA explained the nature of the Ivy League universities and what students, families and schools in China need to do to maximise student entry and also success at these universities. Shawn also delivered a staff workshop and a parents-only seminar.
美国康奈尔大学战略招生计划总监Shawn Felton先生介绍了常春藤盟校的特点,以及中国的学生、家长和学校如何才能最大化地提升学生进入这些大学并取得成功的机会。Shawn还为员工举办了研习会,并为家长举办了专题讲座。
Mr David Mansfield, Chief Academic Officer for ISA, provided an informative summary of the valuable progress made in establishing ISA school boards, implementing school evaluations known as ‘health checks’, introducing ISA-wide data systems, implementing a system of teacher standards, and a new professional development system. David focused on concepts such as systemic improvement, system coherence, and innovation, and reminded staff that all of this work is directed to improving student learning and wellbeing standards, and improving organisational efficiency.
爱莎国际教育集团首席学术官David Mansfield先生对爱莎在建立学校董事会、实施“健康检查”评估、引入处理全爱莎数据的系统、实施教师标准评估系统以及建立新的专业发展系统等方面取得的进展进行了总结。David还强调了系统性改进、系统连贯性和创新等概念,并强调所有这些工作都是为了提高学生的学习成果和幸福感,改善爱莎全集团的组织效率。
A final keynote address was presented by our ISA Board. This was a very informative and sincere report of the progress made by ISA in the previous nine years, including the establishment of multiple schools and programmes, and early successes of our ISA graduates entering leading global universities. The Board speech focused on the importance of innovation, maintaining high standards in everything we do, working as an entire ISA Team, and being stellar examples of intercultural collaboration and global-mindedness.

The ‘Celebrations of Learning’ were another important part of the PLC. This year, five staff presentations were chosen to showcase innovation and success in ISA programmes, and these were presented to the entire staff in the auditorium. They included the:

A Celebratory Dinner

A celebratory dinner on Friday night was used as a just reward to thank all staff for their contributions to ISA and to each and every student. Staff showcased their talents in singing, dancing, ensemble performance and even juggling. Staff from different campuses and programmes mingled and enjoyed the entertainment and social banter.
周五晚上的庆祝晚宴旨在感谢所有员工对爱莎和每一位学生的贡献。员工们展示了他们的歌唱、舞蹈、合奏表演甚至杂技等才艺。来自不同校区和项目的员工们欢聚一堂,享受娱乐节目和轻松的社交时光。
A Successful Learning Journey
赋能员工,助力学生成长
The PLC is only one professional learning event in the ISA calendar. Indeed, each school has its own PLC as well as a host of seminars, workshops, courses, and other learning media for staff to exchange ideas, learn from each other, learn from experts, and develop the skills of presenting in public and publishing. However, it is a very important event and the evaluation data reveals strong support for the PLC, especially the workshops and the system which encourages staff agency and growth. With a successful formula being used for a number of years, and acknowledging a significant investment by the ISA Board, the focus for the PLC can now move to how innovation and best practice are implemented by staff in each school and programme, and in our headquarters.
爱莎专业学习大会只是爱莎众多专业学习活动之一。事实上,每个爱莎学校都有自己的专业学习活动,以及众多讲座、工作坊、课程和其他学习活动,供员工交流思想、相互学习、向专家取经,并锻炼公众演讲和发表文章的技能。虽然爱莎专业学习大会只是其中之一,但它不可或缺,评估数据显示,研习会和促进员工成长的机制都反映出大会对员工发展的重要性。多年来,我们使用了一套成功的模式,爱莎董事会也投入了大量资源,如今爱莎专业学习大会可以更关注员工如何在各学校和项目以及集团总部实施创新和最佳实践。
