Our Halloween English Spooky Story Competition was a tremendous success, with a fantastic turnout and an array of thrilling, spine-chilling tales from across the prep school! Pupils from every year group took part, crafting imaginative stories that transported us to mysterious worlds, creepy forests, and haunted mansions, each filled with suspense and surprises. It was wonderful to see the creativity, language skills, and imagination that each pupil poured into their entries.
After reading through all the entries, our judges had the challenging task of selecting the winners. We’re delighted to announce that the top honours go to:
who captivated us with her eerie tale of “Halloween in the Castle"
whose suspenseful story “Ghost"kept us on the edge of our seats!
for his story "The Secret Potion Maker"
for his chilling tale, “Halloween Night"
Thank you to all our writers! Each entry impressed us with its unique take on Halloween themes, and we’re grateful to every pupil who shared their story with us. This competition highlighted the pupils' ability to bring their English skills to life in engaging and spooky narratives. Events like these are an excellent opportunity to practise important language skills, from building suspense to using descriptive language that transports readers to another world.
