作为爱丁堡公爵奖计划的负责人，我能够参加其在北京举行的年度颁奖典礼，来自中国各地的学生从爱奖国际组织的中国负责办公室那里领取铜奖、银奖和金奖证书，这标志着他们一生中的重大成就。虽然很遗憾，我校的获奖学生无法与我一起参加这次活动，但与来自中国其他地方的勤奋学生（和学校奖项负责人）分享庆祝时刻仍然是一次美好的经历。

As a Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Leader, I was able to attend their annual award ceremony in Beijing, where students from across China are able to collect their Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates from the Chinese heads of this international organisation, marking significant achievements in their lives. Whilst sadly our qualifying students were unable to make this trip with me, it was still a wonderful experience to share a moment of celebration with hard-working students (and award leaders) from elsewhere in China.

爱丁堡公爵奖是许多国际大学和雇主认可的非学术成就。通过承诺经历一个学习新技能和活动的过程，在社区内做志愿者，并进行最后的“户外冒险之旅”，这些奖项为青少年参与者灌输了成长的心态，促进其独立自主和勤勉努力，提升他们被著名大学垂青的机会。

For those unfamiliar, the DofE Awards are non-academic achievements that are recognised by numerous international universities and employers. By committing to undergoing a process where they learn new skills and activities, volunteering within their community and undertaking a final ‘Adventurous Journey’, the awards instil a growth mindset in teenage participants, promoting independence and hard work and improving their chances of achieving prestigious university placements.

这些奖项给我留下深刻印象的一件事是获奖者的自豪感和激情。这些奖项代表了他们几个月甚至几年的年轻生活，他们在获奖那一刻前，展现了出色的韧性和言出必行的品质。不仅是学生，他们的奖项负责人和家长都为他们的这一成就，这一让他们超越同龄人的历练，而感到自豪。

One thing that struck me about the awards was the pride and passion that the awardees represented. The awards represented months, even years of their young lives and they had shown excellent resiliency and commitment in building towards this moment. And not only the students, their award leaders and parents positively glowed with pride at having completed something that elevated those young people above and beyond so many of their peers.

我真的希望看到越来越多的中学生站出来，开始参与这个著名的项目，这样明年我就可以看到他们站在舞台上领取证书，看到他们脸上的自豪感，知道这个荣誉奖传递到我自己、他们的父母和整个学校社区。

I genuinely hope to see more and more of our students in high school step up and commence work on this prestigious programme, so that next year I can watch them stand up on the stage and collect the certificates, seeing the pride in their faces and knowing that it will be reflected in the faces of myself, their parents and the whole-school community.
