The Power of Petting
作为“善良” 课程主题的一部分，我们最近为孩子们引入了一次抚摸动物的体验，让他们能在一个安全且有爱的环境中与动物接触。这次富有创意的实践体验旨在给我们年轻的学习者留下持久的影响，同时很好地体现善良的本质，因为这次体验能让孩子们抚摸和照顾动物，使他们在安全、有爱的环境中与动物建立联系。
As part of our curriculum topic on “Kindness,” we recently introduced a petting experience to the children, allowing them to connect with animals in a safe, nurturing environment. This creative, hands-on experience was planned with the intention of leaving a lasting impact on our young learners while beautifully embodying the essence of kindness as the experience enabled children to pet and care for animals, allowing them to connect with animals in a safe, nurturing environment.

Petting Experiences Foster Kindness
与动物互动为孩子们提供了一个切实可行的机会，让他们以一种具体的方式练习同理心和同情心。当孩子们轻柔地抚摸动物时，他们学会了尊重生物的边界和需求。这些建立联系的时刻让孩子们能直接看到自己行为的效果 —— 这是培养对善良理解的关键一步。
Interacting with animals offered children an opportunity to practice empathy and compassion in a tangible way. Whilst the children gently petted the animals, they learnt to respect the boundaries and needs of living beings. These moments of connection allowed children to see the effects of their actions firsthand—an essential step in developing an understanding of kindness.
照顾动物也教会了孩子们责任感。在抚摸体验期间，孩子们被鼓励去了解他们所接触动物的需求 —— 它们吃什么、如何保持健康以及为何需要温柔对待。例如，给小兔子喂食或者给羊驼刷毛都能让孩子们明白，微小而体贴的举动能对其他生物的幸福产生重大影响。
Caring for animals also taught responsibility. During the petting experience, children were encouraged to learn about the needs of the animals they met—what they eat, how they stay healthy, and why they need gentle handling. For instance, feeding a bunny rabbit or brushing a Lamma shows children that small, thoughtful actions can make a big difference in someone else’s well-being.

In today’s digital age, fostering a connection to nature is more important than ever. Animal interactions help children appreciate the beauty and importance of the natural world, encouraging them to value and protect it. This connection often extends beyond the classroom, inspiring conversations at home about pets, wildlife, and the importance of caring for all living things.
在抚摸体验过程中，孩子们脸上洋溢着的喜悦和兴奋是不可否认的。这些纯粹的建立联系和发现的时刻会一直留在他们心中，有助于将他们对善良的理解从一个抽象概念转变为一系列微小但有意义的行动。
The joy and excitement on the children’s faces during the petting experience were undeniable. These moments of pure connection and discovery are the kind that stay with them, helping to shape their understanding of kindness not as an abstract concept but as a series of small, meaningful actions.
家长可以在这次体验的基础上继续深化，鼓励孩子在家照顾宠物、帮忙做喂食或清洁之类的家务，甚至可以去当地的动物收容所做志愿者。像给鸟儿留水或者了解濒危物种之类简单的善举，能进一步灌输同理心和责任感的价值观。
Parents can build on from this experience by encouraging their children to care for pets at home, help with chores like feeding or cleaning, or even volunteer at local animal shelters. Simple acts of kindness, such as leaving water for birds or learning about endangered species, further instill the values of empathy and responsibility.
抚摸体验已被证明是我们课程中教授善良的一个有价值的工具。通过与动物互动，孩子们学会了关爱、建立联系以及理解他人的需求，这些都是重要的生活技能，有助于打造一个更有同情心的世界。作为教育工作者和家长，我们有幸能在这段旅程中引导他们，一次抚摸体验就是一次引导的契机。
The petting experience has proven to be a valuable tool in teaching kindness as part of our curriculum. By interacting with animals, children learnt to care, connect, and understand the needs of others, important life skills that contribute to a more compassionate world. As educators and parents, we had the privilege of guiding them on this journey, one petting experience at a time.
