Hong Kong Field Trip:
Exploring Culture and History
From 28th to 29th November, senior forms students from the Secondary Department of ASJ (Dongguan) set off on a two-day educational field trip to Hong Kong. The trip was centred around transdisciplinary learning and featured a range of exploratory activities related to various DSE subjects, including Chinese, English, Biology, History, and Citizenship and Social Development.
11月28日至29日,东莞暨大港澳子弟学校中学部的高中生们前往香港开展了为期两天的研学活动。本次活动以跨学科学习为核心,涉及一系列有关中文、英文、生物、历史、公民与社会等多个DSE科目的探究活动。
On the first day morning, the students started their trip by visiting the Hong Kong Wetland Park, where they immersed themselves in nature and studied the biodiversity of wetland ecosystems. This was followed by a visit to the historic Tai Fu Tai, where they learned about the architectural features of the gentry's mansions in South China and the wealth of historical information these buildings hold.
研学首日,学生们首先探访了香港湿地公园,亲近自然,探究湿地生态系统的多样性。随后,他们参观了历史悠久的大夫第,深入了解华南地区士绅阶级府第的建筑特色及其承载的丰富历史信息。
They engaged in a friendly inter-school exchange in the afternoon with Yuen Long Merchants Association Secondary School. Amidst a warm welcome, the students savoured traditional Hong Kong sweet soup and explored the school's hydroponic cultivation machines, artificial intelligence fisheries and agriculture devices, the Microsoft Future Library, the Microsoft AI Inno Lab, and the Makers' Space. They interacted with students from the host school, experiencing a variety of learning environment and the creative works produced by their peers.
当日下午,学生们参与了与元朗商会中学进行友好交流的校际活动。在该校的热情接待下,学生们品尝了地道的港式糖水,并分组参观了该校的水耕栽培机和人工智能渔农装置、智能图书馆(Microsoft Future Library)、AI创新实验室(Microsoft AI Inno Lab)以及创客空间(Makers' Space)。学生们在不同的学习环境中,与他校学生进行友好互动并体验到了他们创作的作品。

A highlight of the trip was the visit to the Hong Kong Legislative Council, led by our Chief Academic Inspector, Mr. Lawrence TANG JP, who is also a Member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR. Under Mr. TANG's guidance, the students embarked on an insightful journey into the legislative knowledge of Hong Kong. He provided a comprehensive account of the Legislative Council's historical development and key milestones, deepening the students' understanding of the evolution of Hong Kong's legal system.
本次研学的亮点之一是学生们在暨大港澳子弟学校总督学邓飞议员的带领下,走进到香港立法会进行参观学习。在邓飞总督学的指导下,学生们体验了一场深入的立法知识之旅。参观伊始,邓飞总督学便向学生们详细讲解了立法会从建立之初至今的历史演变和重要转折点,使他们对香港法律体系的发展有了深刻的认识。
#Hong Kong Legislative Council
As they delved further into the workings of the Council, Mr. TANG elaborated on its structure and functions, including meeting formats, bill review processes, and the dynamics between the Chief Executive and the Council. This educational experience significantly enhanced the students' comprehension of the Hong Kong Legislative Council's role as a central element of the HKSAR's political system and its crucial part in fostering Hong Kong's development.
随着深入到立法会内部,邓飞总督学进一步介绍了立法会的结构和功能,包括会议形式、法案审议流程以及行政长官与立法会的互动机制。这次学习之旅极大地丰富了学生们对香港立法会作为特别行政区政治体制核心组成部分的理解,使他们认识到立法会在推动香港发展中的关键角色。
The field trip concluded with a visit to Tai Kwun and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum. Mr. Jason CHUENG, a local Hong Kong teacher from our Secondary Department specialising in Citizenship and Social Development, acted as a guide and commentator, guiding the students through the rich cultural narratives of these two iconic landmarks. The students diligently noted their learnings and experiences on worksheets, which will serve as invaluable resources for their future learning.
本次研学的尾声是参观大馆和香港海事博物馆。本校来自香港本地的郑俊升老师(公民与社会发展教师)担任导览和讲解,带领学生探索这两个香港著名文化地标的丰富内涵。学生们在工作纸上记录下自己在这段研学经历中的所学所得,这些宝贵的记录将成为他们未来学习和发展的宝贵财富。
Through this two-day field trip, the students not only expanded their knowledge but also broadened their perspectives, experiencing the unique culture and history of Hong Kong and adding a memorable chapter to their personal growth journey.
通过这次研学,学生们不仅增长了知识,也拓宽了视野,体验了香港独特的文化和历史,为他们的成长之路增添了难忘的一笔。
