On 7th December the ‘2024 ISA Innovation Festival’ was held at ISA Science City School. The event attracted over 10,000 visitors from both China and abroad. The ‘2024 ISA Innovation Festival’ was jointly organised by the Huangpu District Education Bureau, the Science and Technology Bureau, and the Association for Science and Technology. The full name of the event was the ‘2024 Huangpu District "National Science Education Experimental Zone for Primary and Secondary Schools" Seminar, the ISA International Education Group Innovation Festival, and the Launch of the Outstanding Talent Innovation Programme.’
12月7日,由黄埔区教育局、科技局、科协联合主办的2024年广州市黄埔区“全国中小学科学教育实验区”研讨会、爱莎国际教育集团科创节暨拔尖创新人才项目发布会(下文简称“2024爱莎科创节”)于爱莎科学城学校举行,吸引超一万名中外来宾。
The event brought together numerous leading figures from the fields of education and technology, under the guidance of the Huangpu District Education Bureau, the Science and Technology Bureau, and the Association for Science and Technology. Distinguished guests included officials from the Guangzhou Education Bureau, Huangpu District Education Bureau, the Science and Technology Bureau, and the Association for Science and Technology; professors from top universities such as Tsinghua University and the South China University of Technology; representatives from cutting-edge technology enterprises such as the MIT-certified Fab Lab Shanghai Makerspace; as well as principals and Science-focused Vice Principals (many of whom are senior executives or experts in high-tech and innovation industries) from 110 primary and secondary schools in Huangpu District. Together, they explored pathways for leveraging technology to empower education and shape the future.
在黄埔区教育局、科技局、科协的引领下,活动集结了众多教育界、科技届的领军人物——来自市教育局、区教育局、科技局及科协的领导、清华大学及华南理工大学等高校教授、麻省理工学院认证的Fablab上海智造空间等高新科技企业代表、黄埔区110所中小学校领导和科学副校长(多为高新科技企业高管或科创行业专家)等嘉宾共聚一堂,共谋科技赋能教育、引领未来的发展路径。

One highlight from the event was the strategic partnership signing ceremony between ISA Science City and Beijing Normal University Guangzhou Experimental School (BNUGES). BNUGES is a public school established by Beijing Normal University and the Huangpu District government, dedicated to providing innovative education and nurturing students with both a global perspective and a deep understanding of Chinese culture. With aligned goals of fostering educational innovation, this partnership represents a powerful collaboration and marks a new chapter in the integration of regional educational resources.
本次科创节的重要环节之一,是爱莎科学城与北师大广实姊妹学校的战略合作签约仪式。北京师范大学广州实验学校是由北师大与黄埔区政府合作创办的公办学校,致力于引入北师大的优质教育资源,注重教育创新,培养具有中国精神和国际视野的优秀学生,已在区域教育领域树立了示范作用。爱莎科学城和北师大广实在推动教育创新和培养具有国际视野人才方面理念、目标不谋而合,此次签约是两校强强联合的开端,更标志着区域内科创教育资源整合迈向了新高度。

Dr Liao Kuangbiao, a researcher at the Guangzhou National Laboratory and founder of AIChemEco, delivered a keynote address titled AI Empowering Chemistry Education. Dr. Liao Kuangbiao’s address showcased innovative applications of artificial intelligence in the classroom and sparked passionate discussions on the future of education.

A panel discussion on AI Empowering the Future of Education: Challenges and Opportunities followed. The panel discussion was moderated by Jia Xi, Deputy Director of Academic Centre of ISAIEG. Panelists included Associate Professor Yan Cheng from Tsinghua University, Saverio Silli from Shanghai Fablab, Professor Zeng Caibin from the South China University of Technology, Wang Yuan from high-tech enterprises, and ISA student Alessandro. Together, they explored the integration of AI and education, offering valuable insights and perspectives to the attendees.
活动现场举办了以“人工智能赋能未来教育:挑战与机遇”为主题的圆桌论坛,由爱莎国际教育集团学术中心副总监贾茜主持,清华大学副教授严程、上海Fablab智造空间副总监Saverio Silli、华南理工大学教授曾才斌、高新科技企业代表汪媛、优秀学生代表Alessandro等多位嘉宾共同探讨人工智能与教育融合的潜力与前景,为与会者带来诸多启迪和新视角。

The festival featured a wide array of exhibits covering diverse areas of science and technology. The exhibition area brought together innovative projects from ISA students, local schools in Huangpu, and high-tech enterprises, creating a dynamic and diverse ecosystem of STEAM education.

ISA students showcased impressive projects including 3D printing, drones, robotic arms, and programming games, reflecting the effectiveness of ISA's STEAM education and project-based learning.
活动中,爱莎学子展示了3D打印、无人机、机械臂、编程游戏等项目,展现了在爱莎STEAM教育及项目式学习培养模式下,学生出色的创新能力和实践能力。
One standout project, Wings of Apex: Drone Repair for High-Voltage Cables by ISA students Ma Zi’ang and Li Yingzhang, has been submitted for both utility and invention patents. This highlights the spirit of ISA students, who are courageous in innovation and committed to using technology to address real-world societal challenges. It also reflects the effectiveness of the ISAlEG Centre for Cultivating Innovators.
其中,爱莎的马梓昂、李瀛彰同学的科创项目《巅峰之翼:无人机修复高压电缆》已申报实用新型专利和发明专利,两位同学在爱莎STEAM课程中发现热爱,并在老师和学校的帮助下将奇思妙想转化为成果。这展示了爱莎学生勇于创新、力求用科技的力量解决当前社会实际问题的精神,也体现了爱莎拔尖创新人才培养方案的成效。
Additionally, ISA students’ strong performance in academic competitions highlighted the depth of ISA’s STEAM education. For instance, Thomas, a Grade 11 student, was one of just 12 finalists nationwide in the global final of the Shing-TUng Yau Mathematics Award. Collaborations with top universities such as Tsinghua University, University College London, and MIT provide students with over 120 open research projects, supporting their academic and personal growth while preparing them for admission to world-leading universities.
此外,爱莎学生在多个学术赛事的优异表现也进一步彰显了爱莎科创教育的广度与深度,如高二学生Thomas凭借数学创新项目入围全球顶级学术赛事——丘成桐科学奖(数学)全球总决赛,成为全国仅有的十二位入围者之一。爱莎科创中心还与国内外高校合作,提供了120多个开放性研究课题,及与清华大学、伦敦大学学院、麻省理工学院等院校合作的科创项目,为学生提供了广泛而优质的资源支持,助力拔尖创新人才的培养,旨在提升学生的学术视野与背景,为他们迈向顶级大学和国际化发展打下坚实基础。

On the same day, the annual ISA Festival celebration took place under the theme: Cyber Melodies. The event attracted over 10,000 participants. The event combined immersive technology experiences, artistic performances, and charity booths, embodying ISA’s commitment to diversity and innovation in education.

The ISA International Innovation Centre is a pioneering platform dedicated to the in-depth integration of technology and education, cultivating globally competitive talent. It also serves as an incubation hub, combining the strengths of regional technology enterprises and providing integrated industry-academia-research services. At present, the centre encompasses six themed workshops: Smart Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Biological Exploration, Fashion Arts, Digital Media, and Robotics. Based on these, it facilitates interdisciplinary, project-based contextual learning through the innovation, development, and customisation of educational scenarios and models.

The centre collaborates with leading STEM course and product providers, both domestically and internationally, to develop and customise curricula around the six workshops. ISA International Education Group aims to build a cutting-edge technology curriculum system for K-12 schools in China, including courses with partial intellectual property rights. This system better addresses students’ developmental needs, creating a ‘lifelong curriculum’ framework that ultimately forms a comprehensive technology education ecosystem, benefitting ISA students, nearby communities, and the wider South China region. In addition to over 10 national standard courses in information technology and science, the ISA Science City International Innovation Centre and ISA Liwan International Innovation Centre offer dozens of Co-curricular Activities (CCA) and Extra-curricular Activities (ECA), collectively engaging more than 400 students across ISA campuses.

The ISA International Science and Technology Innovation Centre is now a member of the global Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory) network. At present, Guangzhou has only two Fab Lab-certified laboratories, located at ISA Science City and ISA Liwan campuses. (Fab Lab, established by Neil Gershenfeld, Director of the Centre for Bits and Atoms at MIT, is a concept for digital fabrication laboratories, with approximately 900 certified labs worldwide, including 24 in China.) The centre provides high-quality science and technology education resources to ISA schools, sister schools, and surrounding communities, connecting them to global advancements in science and innovation while creating pathways to world-class universities. The ISA International Science and Technology Innovation Centre is set to gradually expand its reach, strengthen links with local communities, and promote resource sharing, through the development of standardised laboratories, the design of international science innovation curricula, a variety of open learning activities, and inter-school science exchange programmes. It will also establish itself as a hub for K-12 science and technology education. Together, these plans enrich the Greater Bay Area’s ecosystem of innovation-driven education.
