This week in Grade 1, students explored socio-emotional skills through engaging activities that deepened their understanding of emotions. They enjoyed a read-aloud session of 'Love' by Matt de la Peña, discussing emotions and creatively expressing them through colours, shapes, and movement. Later, they created vibrant emotion art collages, using various materials to represent feelings like anger, sadness, and happiness visually.

Grade 5 students delved deeply into ‘Deep Maternal Love’ this text.  Through careful scene and detail descriptions, students profoundly experienced the rich emotions contained within the text. The children not only felt the deep love of the mother for the author but also understood the author's gratitude and love for his mother. This process improved their reading comprehension skills and cultivated their empathy and sense of gratitude.      

Grade 4 students discussed the text 'A Timid Big Tiger,' where students grappled with the author's confusion over the necessity of Tiger leap in performing a tiger. This story sparked conversations on self-expression, conformity, and the courage to challenge norms, fostering critical thinking and emotional resilience.


This week, Grade 6 students learned the classical Chinese‘Bo Ya Gu Qin’. They analysed the characters' emotional changes through some sentences. For example, why did Boya stop playing the guqin after Zhong Ziqi's death? Through the text, students discovered that a close friend is hard to find.

This week, Grade 5 and Grade 6 students learned about the topic of “Pressures”, discussing the pressures they face in their lives and studies, and discussing how they can better manage their academics, personal life, and social pressures through emotional regulation. Grade 3 and Grade 4 students learned about the topic of "school" through interactive games like building puzzles that promoted communication and cooperation among children.

The Lower Primary Library Club students enjoyed exploring “Emotional Reads”. Each student blindly selected an emotion ranging from happy and excited to sad and angry. Students then selected a book to read and identified a character experiencing that emotion.

Chinese Maths

Grade 2 students explored multiplication table for 8 and 9, for enhancing memory and collaboration skills, they crafted educational tools, fostering creativity and teamwork, which boosted their efficiency in memorising multiplication tables.                        

This week, Grade 5 organised a group collaboration to discuss solutions to equations and how to use equations to solve practical problems. For example, when solving an equation problem about finding change for shopping, students were presented with the roles of customers, cashiers, etc., before role-playing shopping scenarios to list equations and solve them. Students enhanced their cooperation, friendships, teamwork, and interpersonal skills while enjoying the positive experience of collaboratively overcoming mathematical challenges.

中文数学

With ASJ Sports Day, this was the perfect time for students to show and use their social and emotional skills to provide a whole school fun experience. Students helped encourage team members, accepted winning and losing with grace and showed fantastic team spirit.
