Last Friday, we were pleased to invite Dr. Anne CHAN, a seasoned Hong Kong education expert, for an enlightening parent workshop. The session explored modern educational philosophies, injecting fresh energy into our home-school collaborations.

上周五,本校特邀香港教育界资深专家陈绮雯博士到校举办家长课堂,与家长们共话科学教育理念,为家校共育注入新活力。






With credentials including Former deputy president of the CUHK School Heads Alumni Association and former principal of a Band 1 EMI school in Hong Kong, C.C.C. Ming Yin College – Dr. Chan introduced Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Through vivid examples, she helped parents recognise talents beyond conventional academic metrics: a doodling child might possess spatial intelligence, while a bug-obsessed youngster could showcase naturalist intelligence. Traits often dismissed as "distracting hobbies" might actually signal unique potential.


作为香港中文大学校友校长会前任副主席暨香港第一等级英文中学香港中华基督教会铬贤书院前任校长,陈绮雯博士在讲座中分享了加德纳教授的“多元智能理论”。她通过生动的案例解析,帮助家长理解:孩子的才能远不止体现在传统认知中的数理能力或语言天赋。加德纳提出的八种智能类型——包括音乐、空间、人际、内省、自然探索等——让现场家长豁然开朗:爱涂鸦的孩子可能拥有视觉空间智能,热衷观察昆虫的孩子或许具备自然探索天赋,这些曾被贴上“不务正业”标签的特质,实则蕴含着独特的潜能。



"Spotting strengths matters more than fixating on weaknesses," Dr. Chan emphasised. She advised parents to nurture talents strategically, suggesting: "When children struggle in certain areas, prioritise supportive coaching over criticism." This aligns perfectly with ASJ (Dongguan)’s holistic education philosophy – through tailored curricula, co-curricular activities, and real-world projects, we help students discover their unique paths.


“发现孩子的优势,比紧盯短板更重要。”陈博士强调,家长应以积极态度看待孩子的特点,通过科学引导将强项转化为成长支点。她特别建议:“当孩子在某些领域表现较弱时,与其批评指责,不如通过针对性训练逐步提升。”这种理念与东莞ASJ践行的“全人教育”高度契合——我们通过个性化课程、社团活动与社会实践,帮助每个学生找到属于自己的发展方向。
