✓ 洪水来时不涉水行走/开车;

✓ 听到警报立即往高处转移;

· 乌龟爬行法:弯腰低姿避开浓烟;

· 摸门测温术:用手背试探门温再决定是否开门;

掌握逃生自救实用技能;
懂得敬畏生命与感恩英雄;

This morning, students in Grades 1 embarked on an exciting experiential education trip to the Songshan Lake Fire Station. The visit was packed with hands-on learning experiences, including exploring fire trucks and rescue boats, viewing a photo display of heroic firefighting efforts, learning about flood safety, and even navigating a smoke-filled room to practice emergency evacuation. The trip was both fun and informative, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for firefighters and the important work they do.

Arrival at the Fire Station

As the students arrived at the fire station, they were greeted by friendly firefighters who would guide them through the day’s activities. The children buzzed with excitement, eager to see the big fire trucks and learn about fire safety. The firefighters began by giving a brief introduction to their work, explaining how they respond to emergencies like fires, floods, and accidents.

Exploring the Photo Display

The first stop was a photo display showcasing the fire station’s history and some of their most challenging rescue missions. The students saw pictures of firefighters battling blazes, conducting water rescues, and even saving animals. One firefighter explained how teamwork and quick thinking are essential in emergencies.

"Look at that huge fire!" exclaimed one student, pointing at a dramatic image of a building engulfed in flames. The firefighter explained how they use special equipment to control fires and protect people. The students were amazed by the bravery of the firefighters and asked many questions about their training and experiences.

Up Close with Fire Trucks

and Rescue Boats

Next, the students moved outside to see the fire trucks and rescue boats up close. The firefighters opened the compartments of the trucks, revealing hoses, axes, oxygen tanks, and other tools used in emergencies.

Fire Trucks: The children learned about the different types of fire trucks, including ladder trucks for reaching high floors and pumper trucks that spray water. Some students even got to sit inside the truck and try on a firefighter’s helmet!

Rescue Boats: Since floods can be a danger in some areas, the fire station also had rescue boats on display. The firefighters explained how they use these boats to save people during heavy rains or floods.

"How fast can the boat go?" asked one curious student. The firefighter smiled and explained that speed is important during rescues, but safety always comes first.

Learning About Flood Safety

After exploring the vehicles, the students gathered for a flood safety demonstration. The firefighters explained what to do in case of a flood, including:

  • Avoiding walking or driving through floodwaters (even shallow water can be dangerous).

  • Moving to higher ground if a flood warning is issued.

  • Never playing near rivers or drains during heavy rain.

The students listened carefully as the firefighters shared real-life stories of flood rescues. They also practiced some basic water safety techniques, such as how to float if caught in moving water.

The Smoke-Filled Room:

 A Realistic Evacuation Drill

One of the most thrilling parts of the trip was when the students entered a smoke-filled room designed to simulate a real fire evacuation. The room was filled with harmless artificial smoke, making it difficult to see—just like in a real fire.

  • Staying Low: The firefighters taught the students to crawl on their hands and knees to avoid smoke inhalation.

  • Feeling Doors for Heat: Before opening any door in a fire, they learned to check if it was hot, which could mean flames on the other side.

  • Moving Quickly but Safely: The children practiced exiting the room calmly without pushing.

Some students were a little nervous at first, but the firefighters guided them through, ensuring everyone felt safe. By the end, the kids were proud of themselves for completing the drill successfully!

Q&A Session and Closing Thoughts

Before leaving, the students had a question-and-answer session with the firefighters. They asked fun and thoughtful questions like:

  • "How do you slide down the fire pole so fast?"

  • "Do you have to be really strong to be a firefighter?"

  • "Have you ever rescued a cat from a tree?"

The firefighters answered with patience and humor, emphasizing that anyone can be a firefighter with the right training and determination.

As the trip came to an end, the students thanked the firefighters with cheers and handmade thank-you cards. They left with new knowledge about fire and flood safety, a greater respect for first responders, and unforgettable memories.

Why This Trip Was So Valuable

Visiting the fire station wasn’t just fun—it was an important learning experience. The students:

✔ Learned life-saving safety skills (like how to escape a smoky room).
✔ Gained respect for firefighters and their bravery.
✔ Understood real-world dangers (fires, floods) and how to stay safe.

Teachers and parents agreed that this was one of the best education trips ever, combining education with excitement. Who knows? Maybe some of these students will grow up to become firefighters themselves!

Final Thoughts

The Songshan Lake Fire Station visit was a huge success, leaving students inspired and more aware of emergency safety. The firefighters did an amazing job making the lessons engaging and interactive.

As one student put it: "I want to be a firefighter when I grow up—they’re heroes!"

And who can argue with that?
