She said,
Youth is the experimental class of life!
「 Emily」
Graduates of TFS Class of 2025
On the Farragut campus, there is such a girl - she loves biology, but not only in the lab; she is obsessed with art, but has never delayed her studies; she holds offers from many world-famous schools, but remains humble and determined. She is Emily Qian Siyuan from Senior 2, a multifaceted academic leader who blossoms in freedom and support. She became the center of attention with her bright application results.

Freedom to grow and academic depth:
A Two-Way Choice
Growing up in a relaxed family environment, Emily developed a free-spirited and exploratory personality at an early age. She chose to pursue an international education, and the open and inclusive environment of Farragut School has been a fertile ground for her to pursue her dreams.
In terms of academic development, the school provided Emily with a full chain of support from clubs to laboratories. The Life Science Club, which she started with her friend Olivia, has grown into a large and stable club with 17 participants, thanks to the joint efforts of her classmates and the school's resources.

She says: I prefer to have my students participate on their own to get a feel for the subject that explores the fascination of life.
In particular, the only molecular biology lab at the high school level in Tianjin, which was jointly created by the school and Scales Academic, is not only equipped with advanced equipment, but also provides an opportunity for club members to get in touch with cutting-edge academic knowledge. The Life Science Club conducted several lab sessions here, exposing students to higher-level academic knowledge, including the use of commonly used lab equipment and simple lab operations at the undergraduate level, as well as practical lessons in anatomy and pathology theory. These experiences not only allowed Emily to gain deeper academic attainment in biology, but also allowed her to find many like-minded partners to pursue higher academic standards.
Diversity Empowerment:
Co-Resonance of Interests and Professions
At Farragut, Emily's diverse interests are well nourished. Musically, the school's graduation ceremonies, the Double Day Carnival, and other performance stages allowed her to shine in choir and musical theater programs.

In the field of painting, Farragut set the stage for Emily to pursue her dreams: when she first enrolled in the school, the school and the Tianjin Art Museum co-organized a painting exhibition, which allowed her to display her work in public for the first time, and she felt the joy of being recognized for her artistic expression. The resources of the school's art club provided her with the space to create professionally. She also integrates art into campus life by drawing posters and wall paintings, making her works a unique footnote to campus culture, which not only shows her personal talent, but also adds artistic color to the campus.

She says: I've always had a consistent creative streak. My relationship with painting has brought me closer and more integrated with my art, with my friends, and with the surrounding community.

She says: Although I didn't go for an art major, I don't regret the time I put into painting.
In sailing, the school's varsity team, formed in cooperation with the marina, has allowed her to meet like-minded partners and enjoy the joy of the sport.

Emily takes the stage when the music plays, paints the world when the paintbrush falls, and embraces the sea breeze when the sailboat breaks the waves. These seemingly unrelated passions, along with her biology major, have long been integrated into her life and have become her unique mark of growth. During the application season, she showed the admissions officers a picture of her youth full of tension: the rigor of scientific research in the lab, the romance of artistic creation, and the boldness of challenging herself in sports. These vivid images intertwine to form a three-dimensional portrait of a young girl and provide the clearest evidence of Farragut's philosophy of "whole person education."
Precision Navigation:
Solid support on the way to higher education
Facing the complex challenges of applying to American universities, Farragut's faculty team became Emily's “strongest support”. The reasonable difficulty and progress arrangement of the school's AP course system allowed her to be comfortable in multidisciplinary studies such as chemistry, macroeconomics, microeconomics, etc., which not only met the professional needs but also expanded the boundaries of knowledge. With their rich experience, the college guidance teachers gave precise guidance in the key aspects of school selection strategy and paperwork polishing, etc. Emily's main paperwork cleverly incorporated her thoughts on her discipline through the story of “making specimens”, which was a unique self-analysis that couldn't be separated from the teachers' attentive guidance.
When she was confused about her major, her Life Science teacher ignited her love for biology with her lively classes. It is the escort of these teachers that enabled Emily to move forward steadily on the application path and finally knock on the door of a world-famous university.

She says: Not just these teachers, but every teacher I have ever spent time with has had a profound impact on me. Each teacher has taught me so much - from academics to how to grow into a sound human being. I would like to say thank you to all of you!
Emily specifically mentioned in her interview, “In addition to the academic support, the humanistic care at Farragut is also something I feel very strongly about. The small class sizes have allowed me to form a relationship with each teacher as well as a friend. When I am not happy, the school's “Heart Talk Building” is always open to my classmates, and the psychologist will always listen to me gently and guide me professionally; the meticulous care in the school nurse's office also makes me feel very relieved! The relationship between students is relaxed and friendly, Farragut is a diverse community, we find those who shine in the crowd, become friends and grow together.”
This feeling of being cared for has allowed her to build a strong sense of trust with others at school, creating a warm atmosphere for her to learn and live in.
She says: It was wonderful to meet you all!

Passion as a Sail, Alma Mater as an Oar:
A Growing Revelation for the Future
In the face of the skepticism about the “sinkhole” of the biomedical profession, Emily has always maintained her initial enthusiasm. In her eyes, exploring the mysteries of life and giving back to the society with her scientific research results are the most worthwhile directions to pursue. She is fascinated by the wonders of life everywhere, from flowers and trees to the microscopic world.
She said that the 21st century is the century of living things - and even though she knew it was a sinkhole, she couldn't help but be attracted to the splendor of life. That's me.
Talking about the future, she is looking forward to deepening her professional knowledge in college, and at the same time, she hopes to continue to experience the richness and beauty of the world in her interests such as painting and sailing. She would like to say to her younger siblings, “When you are lost, follow your love! Don't be trapped by the unknown, try boldly. Youth is an experimental class full of infinite possibilities, so even if the road ahead is unpredictable, be brave and move forward.”

“Youth is an experimental lesson in life": so don't be afraid!
Emily's story is the embodiment of Farragut's educational philosophy. The school adheres to the principle of “teaching students according to their aptitude”, using a professional and systematic curriculum to build a solid academic foundation, taking advantage of diversified club activities and practical opportunities to explore students' potential, and relying on an experienced team of college guidance counselors to tailor-make study abroad programs.
Here, education is not a copy of the assembly line, but a process of respecting individuality, caring for love and cultivating ability. Every child can find his or her own growth path and grow into a composite talent with solid professionalism and outstanding comprehensive ability. In the future, Farragut will continue to educate people with craftsmanship and help more students realize their ideals and go to their own starry sea.
