On May 22nd, students and teachers from the CHP program of Tianjin Farragut School went to the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFS) to conduct an immersive campus visit. The purpose of this activity is to help students understand the internationalization, academic advantages and campus culture of BFS through on-site visits, interactive exchanges and activities, so as to provide clearer guidance for their future study planning.
Trip Review: Multi-dimensional Experience BFS Charm
At the beginning of the event, the representatives of BFS Business School expressed their warm welcome to the teachers and students of Farragut and briefly introduced the school motto of Beiwai: “Comprehensive and Eclectic, Knowledgeable and Diligent”. As a leading institution of foreign language education in China, BFS builds a bridge to the world for students with 101 languages and a globalized academic vision.
In-depth Analysis of iMAP Study Abroad Program
Teachers of International Business School introduced in detail the course system and program composition of Beiwai, which is mainly divided into IBS course system, EAP IELTS-free course system, IFP course system, GSP course system and Business + Art course system.
Academic direction: covering economics and management (accounting, finance), media, international relations, law, etc. The Business School, as a non-language ace school, has AACSB accreditation.
Internationalization features: international students account for 1/4 of the total, and the courses are seamlessly connected with famous universities around the world (e.g. Northern Universities Consortium in UK, Monash University 2+2 program, etc.).
Suggestions for choosing schools: Teachers emphasize that “QS ranking is not the only criterion”. If you focus on future employment prospects, we suggest you pay attention to the “employer favorability” ranking. Take the financial mathematics major of University of Nottingham and the banking major of Bangor University for example, although the QS ranking is not top, their graduates are highly recognized by employers due to the in-depth combination of professional courses and industry practice. This combination of “non-headline institutions + high employer preference” often opens up highly competitive employment channels for students by virtue of their specialized strengths in niche fields, highlighting the importance of multi-dimensional assessment when choosing schools.
Campus Exploration and Sister Experience Sharing
Students received campus exploration task cards in groups and started the mode of independent exploration. According to the task guide, they searched for the school motto stone, the morning reading sister and other card points, visited the library, gymnasium, student activity center and other core areas, and felt the academic atmosphere of Beiwai in the exploration.
At lunchtime, Farragut graduate Vivian was a guest on Farah's “Star News Live”. As a senior sister of Beiwai's first year, Vivian vividly shared her feelings about her study and life in Beiwai International Business School's 2+2 IBS business class. She shared her insights from a multi-dimensional perspective: in terms of academic balance, she talked in detail about how to coordinate the time allocation between language refinement and professional courses; when talking about the classroom experience, she particularly mentioned that the teachers' relaxed and interactive teaching style allows students to absorb knowledge in a pleasant atmosphere; and the rich and diversified disciplines set up allows each student to give full play to his or her own strengths in the choice of majors.
Vivian especially advises students that the teaching systems of TFS and BFS are closely connected, and that a solid accumulation of knowledge in high school will directly lay a key foundation for in-depth learning in university. She emphasized from her own experience that only by building a solid foundation of subjects in high school can we realize the easy leap from “knowledge input” to “ability output” in university professional learning.
Museum of the World's Languages Tour & Quiz
Students stepped into the World Language Museum of Beijing Foreign Studies University, which is full of sense of science and technology, and were instantly surrounded by a strong atmosphere of language and culture. The museum is divided into “Traceability”, “Listening”, “Speaking”,“Writing”,“Education”,“Communication”, “Service”, and “Language”, based on the framework of basic theories of linguistics. “Education”, ‘Communication’, ‘Service’ and ‘Exploration’.
In the interactive exhibition area, everyone was interested in learning more about the evolution of world languages through multimedia equipment. From the mysterious symbols of ancient Arabic, to the unique grammatical structure of Greek, to the cultural imprints behind the endangered dialects that need to be preserved, every exploration is like opening a door to a new world.
Afterwards, the interesting knowledge contest started, covering topics such as the origin of language, grammatical features, translation skills and so on. The students actively answered the questions and deeply realized that language, as a carrier of culture, carries human history, social style and national spirit, and its richness and importance are far beyond imagination.
As an important practical part of Farragut School's CHP program, this trip to Beiwai enabled students to understand the development paths of business, humanities, science and technology, and the importance of the comprehensive competitiveness of “Academic Ability + Language + Practice” through direct contact with the resources of prestigious schools, and stimulated their enthusiasm for cross-cultural learning and communication through the Beiwai Multi-language Environment and Global Cooperation Program. At the same time, the multilingual environment and global cooperation program of Beiwai stimulated students' enthusiasm for cross-cultural learning and communication. The visit was not only a campus experience, but also a vivid career education class. In the future, Farragut School will continue to work together with the world's top universities to provide more opportunities for students to explore and help them shine in the international arena.
