From October 17th to 19th, eight dedicated students from the Canadian International School of Hefei (CISH) proudly represented the school at SISMUN 2025 (Shekou International School Model United Nations). Throughout the conference, our delegates engaged in thoughtful debate, collaboration, and problem-solving as they tackled complex global issues with confidence and diplomacy.
In the Youth Human Rights Council (HRC), Roy (Canada) and George (Thailand) explored key topics such as corporate accountability for human rights abuses, the protection of human trafficking victims in conflict areas, and the impacts of hate speech.
Representing the General Assembly (GA), Freddi (Brazil) and Ryan (Mexico) debated the causes of regional tensions, the effects of environmental degradation, and solutions to the ongoing refugee crisis in the Middle East.
In the Environmental Commission (ENV), Makayla (Pakistan) and Kyuri (Argentina) addressed global concerns including pollution from urbanization, waste from fast fashion, and the role of education in combating climate change denialism.
Within the World Health Assembly (WHA), Tamar (Canada) and Aaric (Mexico) examined issues such as reducing tobacco and nicotine consumption, pandemic preparedness, and the growing threat of antiviral drug resistance. Aaric was recognized for his strong contributions to his committee, while Tamar earned the Most Passionate Delegate Award for his outstanding engagement and dedication.
Each delegate represented CISH with excellence, demonstrating critical thinking, empathy, and a genuine commitment to global dialogue. Their success reflects the skills fostered through our rigorous IB curriculum, which emphasizes inquiry, communication, and international-mindedness — core qualities that empower students to engage thoughtfully with global challenges. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the dedication they displayed at SISMUN.
