Recently, led by Dr. Sandra Li, our teaching team engaged in an in-depth professional development session on "Differentiated Instruction in Montessori Education," which unveiled the scientific system and educational artistry behind this approach.

Understanding Differentiated Instruction: The Dual Foundations of "Freedom and Structure"
理解差异教学:从“自由与结构”的双重基石出发


Many parents might think the "freedom" in Montessori education means doing whatever one likes. In fact, authentic Montessori education is "freedom within order." We have a rigorous three-year curriculum cycle and a structured learning path covering five key areas. It is this solid framework that allows our teachers to accurately gauge each child's progress and provide the right personalized support at the right time—this is the very core of differentiated instruction.

Based on continuous observation and documentation, we create a tailored learning plan for every child. This plan does not label or rank children but genuinely responds to their own developmental pace and learning needs, truly realizing "an individualized plan for every single child."
基于持续地观察与记录,我们为每一位孩子量身定制专属教案。它不给孩子贴标签、分等级,而是真实地呼应他自身的发展节奏与学习需求,真正实现“一人一案”。

At Tsinglan Kindergarten, we firmly believe that educational equity does not mean giving every child the same thing, but giving each child what they need most. Theme Exploration: Community & Neighborhood - Opening Children's Journey of Social Awareness
主题探索:社区与邻里——开启儿童社会意识之旅


At Tsinglan Kindergarten, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom into every corner of a child’s life. This semester, our kindergarten teachers have designed a three-week thematic exploration around "Community and Neighborhood," guiding children to step into the world around them and grow into active, socially aware young participants.
在清澜幼儿园,我们坚信教育的边界远不止于教室,它渗透在孩子们生活的每个角落。本学期,幼儿园的老师们围绕“社区与邻里”这一主题,精心设计了为期三周的探索课程,引导孩子们走进身边的世界,成长为积极互动、心怀社会的小主人。

For young learners, the community is both familiar and full of wonder. By exploring their community, children transform from passive observers into active participants. Their perspective expands from their immediate family to the broader social environment, sparking curiosity and laying a strong foundation for future learning in social awareness, language expression, and interpersonal skills.
对幼儿而言,社区既熟悉又充满奇妙。通过对社区的探索,孩子们从被动的观察者转变为积极的参与者。他们的视野从亲密的小家延伸至广阔的社会环境,好奇心的种子在此萌芽,为未来社会认知、语言表达与人际交往能力的发展奠定了坚实基础。







Integrating Bilingual Perspectives to Enrich the Curriculum
融入双语视角 丰富课程内涵


To achieve this, our Chinese and English teaching teams have closely collaborated, designing diverse and meaningful activities around shared learning goals. Students will take a community walk to a fire station, create a neighborhood map, and carry out acts of kindness for their peers in neighboring classes. These activities also incorporate reflections on how technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence, may shape future professions and community life.
为实现这一目标,中英文教学团队紧密协作,围绕共同的学习目标设计了丰富多元的活动。孩子们将走进消防站实地探访、绘制社区生活地图、为邻班伙伴送去温暖行动。这些活动中还融入了对科技发展的思考——引导孩子们探索人工智能等新技术将如何影响未来的职业形态与社区生活。

This cross-cultural and interdisciplinary planning not only strengthens teacher teamwork but also makes learning more meaningful, engaging, and memorable for every child.

Teaching is a profession that requires continuous growth. Actively learning new knowledge and skills helps educators break away from routine, prevent stagnation, and rediscover their passion—it is a powerful way to combat burnout. At the end of a recent professional development day, our kindergarten and pre-kindergarten teachers came together to reflect on the essential qualities they bring as educators and the attributes that define a Tsinglan teacher. Through interactive and thought-provoking activities, the session was filled with smiles and lively discussion.

When teachers successfully learn and apply new strategies, their confidence grows. This sense of self-efficacy is closely linked to improved student development and greater professional fulfillment. Continuous learning also enables educators to adapt to new curricula, technologies, and educational policies, opening pathways to mentorship and leadership roles. Through collaboration and a shared commitment to growth, our teachers continue to inspire both each other and the children they guide every day.

教学是一门需要持续精进的艺术。主动学习新知与技能,能帮助教育者打破常规、避免思维固化,重新点燃教育热情——这是抵御职业倦怠的有效良方。在最近一次教师发展日的尾声,我们幼儿园与学前部的老师们齐聚一堂,共同反思了两个核心问题:身为教育者应秉持哪些核心素养?清澜教师应具备怎样的特质?整场交流活动充满互动性与思辨性,会场内洋溢着会心微笑与热烈讨论。
