On November 29th, Shenzhen Merchiston International School (MIS) welcomed its 8th anniversary bathed in the soft warmth of early winter sunlight. The campus echoed with the majestic sound of bagpipes and joyful laughter as nearly a thousand students, parents, alumni, and distinguished guests gathered at the castle-style school grounds to witness this heartwarming celebration marking eight years of dedication and achievement.
The ceremony commenced that morning with the elegant melody of Scottish bagpipes. Ben, Executive Head of MIS, and Wendy, the National Head of MIS, delivered opening speeches, fondly reflecting on the school's journey over the past eight years. Ms. Wendy remarked, "Eight years ago, as Shenzhen's first pure British-style international school, we established ourselves here guided by our founding ethos of 'Academic Excellence with Warmth.' From our initial exploratory steps to becoming a leader in British-style international education within the Greater Bay Area, every achievement has been made possible through the wisdom, perseverance, and heartfelt dedication of every member of the MIS community."
As a video featuring blessings from MIS alumni across the globe played on the large screen, cheers and applause resonated throughout the venue. Many attendees were moved to tears, creating a profoundly touching atmosphere.
Eight Years of Commitment: Achieving Multiple "Firsts" in Greater Bay Area International Education
Since its establishment in 2018, MIS has consistently adhered to the educational philosophy of "Academic Excellence with Warmth," gradually building a distinctive educational system. Over these eight years, the school has continuously set new records – not only becoming the pioneering British-style international school in the Greater Bay Area to receive an offer from the University of Cambridge but also achieving the remarkable distinction where the Class of 2025 received "an average of one G5 university offer per student," demonstrating the school's sustained leading position in teaching outcomes.
In the 2026 early application round, MIS students have again delivered outstanding news.
