变废为宝,创意无限|MYP八年级探究成果展圆满举行 From Waste to Wonder

智慧照明、纸张制肥、厨余发电、米饭清洁……这群八年级学生,正在用项目式学习改变校园。

Smart lighting, paper composting, food waste power generation, rice-based cleaners…These eighth-grade students are transforming their campus through project-based learning.


12月5日,华外同文外国语学校MYP八年级的学生们进行了一场别开生面的探究项目成果展示。本次展示以“校园浪费现象分析与行动计划”为主题,十个小组从电力、纸张、食物等不同维度切入,通过数据调研、实验验证与方案设计,呈现了一系列兼具创新性与可行性的校园节能环保解决方案。

On December 5th, the MYP Grade 8 students at HW Tongwen Foreign Language School held a unique exhibition showcasing their inquiry project achievements. Centered around the theme "Analysis and Action Plan for Campus Waste Phenomena," twelve groups tackled the issue from different angles such as electricity, paper, and food. Through data research, experimental verification, and solution design, they presented a series of innovative and feasible energy-saving and environmental protection solutions for the campus.


在为期数周的项目周期中,学生们围绕“可持续城市和社区”“负责任消费和生产”等联合国可持续发展目标,开展了系统性的校园浪费调研。他们不仅精准定位了校园中电力、纸张、食物等资源的浪费现象,更通过实验探索与技术集成,提出了切实可行的“变废为宝”循环方案。

Over a project cycle lasting several weeks, the students conducted systematic research on campus waste, guided by UN Sustainable Development Goals such as "Sustainable Cities and Communities" and "Responsible Consumption and Production." They not only precisely identified waste phenomena concerning resources like electricity, paper, and food on campus but also proposed practical "turning waste into treasure" recycling solutions through experimental exploration and technology integration.

“电费年浪费超1.7万元?我们来解决!”

"Over 17,000 yuan wasted annually on electricity bills? Let's solve it!"


该小组通过两周实地监测,发现华鲤堂教学楼仅在照明一项上,年浪费电费就超过17280元。他们设计了一套基于光感传感器的智能照明系统,通过“感知—决策—执行—应用”四层架构,实现光照自动调节,预计可在自然光充足区域节能50%到70%,整体教室节能30%到40%。

Through two weeks of on-site monitoring, this group discovered that the Huali Tang teaching building alone wastes over 17,280 yuan annually on lighting electricity. They designed an intelligent lighting system based on light sensors. Utilizing a four-layer architecture of "perception-decision-execution-application," it enables automatic light adjustment. It is projected to save 50% to 70% energy in areas with sufficient natural light and 30% to 40% for entire classrooms.

该小组将校园废弃纸张回收后,通过微生物发酵技术转化为温和缓释的液态化肥,用于幼儿园绿植养护。项目不止于技术转化,更延伸为一个充满生命力的教育实践——他们与PYP三年级合作,带领小学生将纸浆塑造成可爱的“纸浆地球”,并在其中放入种子。当孩子们为这些“纸浆地球”浇水,绿芽从中破“土”而出时,他们亲眼见证了 “废纸→养分→生命” 的完整循环。纸浆,在这里不再是废弃物,而是承载生命、传递可持续理念的源泉。

This group recycled discarded paper from campus and converted it into mild, slow-release liquid fertilizer using microbial fermentation technology, which was then used for maintaining greenery in the kindergarten. The project extended beyond technical conversion into a vibrant educational practice—they collaborated with PYP Grade 3 students to guide them in shaping the paper pulp into adorable "Paper Pulp Earth" globes containing seeds. When the children watered these "Paper Pulp Earths" and saw green sprouts breaking through the "soil," they witnessed firsthand the complete cycle of "waste paper → nutrients → life." Here, paper pulp is no longer waste but a medium carrying life and conveying the concept of sustainability.



“堆肥+甲烷发电,一个垃圾两种用法。”

"Composting + Methane Power Generation: Two uses for one type of waste."


该小组提出“堆肥实验”与“甲烷生成实验”双路径方案,探索将食堂厨余转化为有机肥料或清洁能源。目前已初步完成堆肥配比优化,并设计出甲烷实验装置,致力于实现校园食物浪费减量15%到20%。

This group proposed a dual-path solution involving "composting experiments" and "methane generation experiments" to explore converting cafeteria food waste into organic fertilizer or clean energy. They have preliminarily optimized composting ratios and designed a methane experiment device, aiming to reduce campus food waste by 15% to 20%.


“剩饭不再丢,变成清洁好帮手。”

"Leftover rice no longer goes to waste; it becomes a great cleaning helper."


聚焦食堂米饭浪费,该小组研发以剩余米饭为原料的天然清洁剂。通过发酵工艺将米饭转化为pH值稳定在4.0–5.0的酸性清洁液,去污效果接近市售洗洁精,成本降低超50%,并已完成产品包装设计与使用手册编制。

Focusing on rice waste in the cafeteria, this group developed a natural cleaner using leftover rice as the raw material. Through a fermentation process, the rice is converted into an acidic cleaning solution with a stable pH of 4.0–5.0. Its cleaning efficacy is comparable to commercial dish soap, costs are reduced by over 50%, and product packaging design and user manual compilation have been completed.



在这些项目中,学生灵活运用了生物、化学、物理、数学、工程等多学科知识,真正实现了“学以致用”:

In these projects, students flexibly applied knowledge from multiple disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering, truly achieving "applying learning to practice":



物理:电路设计、传感器集成、能量转化


数学:数据统计、成本核算、效益分析


工程:系统架构、原型搭建、自动化逻辑


生物:微生物发酵、菌种选择、植物生长需求


化学:有机物分解、pH调控、乳化去污原理


这些项目不仅是课程作业,更是指向真实校园场景的绿色行动。部分小组已与食堂、后勤部门、幼儿园建立合作机制,推动方案落地。

These projects are not merely course assignments but green initiatives targeting real campus scenarios. Some groups have already established cooperation mechanisms with the cafeteria, logistics department, and kindergarten to promote the implementation of their solutions. 


从数据调研到实验验证,从技术原型到宣传推广,学生们在项目中锻炼了系统思维、团队协作与项目执行能力,也为校园可持续发展贡献了“青春方案”。

From data research to experimental verification, from technical prototypes to promotional outreach, students honed their systems thinking, teamwork, and project execution skills through the projects, also contributing "youth solutions" to campus sustainable development.


“探究项目的意义,在于引导学生从‘看见问题’走向‘解决问题’。今天他们展示的不仅是成果,更是一种面向未来的思维方式和行动力。”

"The significance of inquiry projects lies in guiding students from 'seeing problems' to 'solving problems.' What they showcased today is not only achievements but also a future-oriented mindset and capacity for action."


本次展示不是终点,而是持续行动的起点。多个小组已制定长期运维与推广计划,部分项目将纳入校本课程或社团活动,持续推动校园环保文化建设。

This exhibition is not an endpoint but the starting point for sustained action. Several groups have formulated long-term operation, maintenance, and promotion plans. Some projects will be incorporated into school-based curricula or club activities to continuously advance the development of campus environmental culture.
