As the winter sun bathed the campus in a warm glow and the fragrance of poetry permeated every heart, BeeMee Forest School successfully held its 3rd "Radiant Poetry, Young Hearts Building Dreams" Poetry Festival in the school theatre on 5th December. Much anticipated by staff and students alike, this cultural feast bridged the gap between classical verse and youthful vitality, filling the campus with a rich literary atmosphere.
Recitations of Elegance: Children Voicing the Classics
With boundless enthusiasm and high spirits, students from all grades presented a spectacular showcase for the audience.
The young students from Class G1A performed a delightful medley titled Cute Challengers Brave the Poetry Festival. Their tender, melodious voices brought a pure charm to the classics.
Class G1B’s original poem, The Unique Me, was particularly striking. With innocent yet vivid language, the children depicted the pure and wonderful little worlds within their hearts.
Grade 2 students, themed The Vast World in Poetry, portrayed a magnificent landscape of mountains and rivers through synchronized recitation and heartfelt interpretation.
Grade 3 students transformed into "Autumn Sound Detectives." In Listening to the Sounds of Autumn, their clear voices captured the season's rhythm, transporting the audience to bountiful fields.
Grade 4 students recited Invitation to Wine with passion, perfectly embodying the unrestrained and heroic spirit of the poetic immortal, Li Bai.
Senior students from Grades 5 and 6 conveyed profound philosophical thought through Prelude to Water Melody: When Will the Bright Moon Appear? leaving a lingering resonance that provoked deep thought.
Challenges of Skill: A Display of Poetic Talent
Following the wonderful recitations, the exciting "Ancient Poetry Challenge" ignited the audience's enthusiasm. Four progressive stages tested the students' poetic knowledge and adaptability.
In "Poetry Pairs," contestants responded with lightning speed, chaining verses together in a seamless flow.
In the "Thousand Poem Recitation," participants confidently delivered their best-known poems, every word reflecting solid preparation.
"Poetry Puzzle" tested the understanding of poetic logic. Contestants raced against time to rearrange scattered verses, demonstrating a firm grasp of the subject.
The ultimate challenge, the "Flying Flower Challenge" (Feihua Ling), pushed the event to its climax. This intense duel, centred on specific keywords, saw contestants exchanging classic lines with wit and fluency, earning thunderous applause from the audience.
Awards Mark New Beginnings; The Poetic Spirit Endures
After fierce competition and professional evaluation by the judges, the awards were announced. In the Performance Category: Classes G1A and G1B won the "Creative Interpretation Award"; Grade 2 claimed the "Poetic Spirit Award"; Grade 3 secured the "Most Expressive Award"; Grade 4 earned the "Classical Elegance Award" for their rendition of Invitation to Wine; and Grades 5 and 6 jointly received the "Poetic Vibrancy Award".
The Ancient Poetry Challenge also yielded impressive results: Einstein College claimed First Prize with profound poetic knowledge and seamless teamwork; Tu Youyou College followed closely to win Second Prize; Newton College and Curie College, equally matched in strength, shared Third Prize.
In the "Flying Flower Challenge," three students—Hayden Cheng, Jason Cheng, and Luna Liu—stood out with their extensive knowledge and quick wit. Their eloquence showcased true youthful talent, earning them the "Master of Verses Award".
As the melodies fade and the verses settle in our minds, the 3rd Poetry Festival of Beemi Forest School comes to a successful close. Yet, the charm of poetry will forever linger on campus. This event allowed students to appreciate the depth of traditional Chinese culture while igniting their passion for reading and writing poetry. May the students of Beemi soar on the wings of poetry, grow through the nourishment of the classics, and let traditional culture shine ever more brilliantly in this new era!
