Alessandro Imperato

Louis Baker

From Concept to Creation

Young Creativity in Full Bloom

From the initial spark of inspiration to the final strokes on the page, students infused their personal insights and imaginative ideas into their work:

● A diverse range of static “fish”-themed illustrations

● Lively animated “fish” creations using motion design software

At the closing ceremony, Nyn Ren,High School Principal of ISA Wenhua Liwan School(International)  delivered a keynote address. She expressed her sincere appreciation to the two SCAD professors for bringing forward-thinking artistic perspectives and innovative teaching approaches, and shared a message with ISA students:

“More valuable than the final artworks themselves is the learning journey our students experienced under the guidance of the professors—the courage to challenge boundaries and the spirit of exploration without limits. These are the most meaningful gains of this time.”

Students then shared the creative ideas behind their works. These pieces represented not only the technical outcomes of two weeks of learning, but also the rich and imaginative expressions of young minds.

Following this, the two professors offered individual professional feedback on each student’s work and personally presented completion certificates to every participant. Zhang Yifeng, Academic Director of the ISA Liwan International High School Visual Arts Programme, together with the teaching team, also expressed strong recognition of the students’ creative passion and professional potential.

Professor’s Reflections:

Growth in the Spotlight

Alessandro Imperato

“The students and fellow instructors here have left a deep impression on me. Learning animation in such a short time is inherently challenging, yet their speed of adaptation and dedication has truly amazed me. I could see they were having fun while fully exploring their ideas. You should feel proud of what you’ve achieved in such a short period!”

Louis Baker

“These young artists have worked incredibly hard. Each piece is brimming with creativity. I really admire their designs and am delighted to see them enjoying the entire creative process.”

After the closing ceremony, the exhibition area became the focus for both parents and students.

Seventeen “fish”-themed illustrations, each with a distinct style, were neatly displayed, while dynamic digital works played in a continuous loop on screens.

Behind every piece lies a journey of artistic exploration and creative refinement, allowing parents to truly witness their children’s growth and development in the world of art.

G10 Vivian

G10 Nemo

G10 Judy

Sonia

Bridge

Student Work Highlights

ISA Liwan - Ann

This is my fish, Ryx. It may seem fragile, but it possesses strong faith and determination, allowing it to overcome any challenge. It’s a little forgetful, sometimes leaving its stars behind!

ISA Liwan - Vivian

The inspiration for this fish comes from my hobbies. I love drawing, so I turned the shape of a drawing board into the fish’s body, and paintbrushes became its fins—creating this ‘Drawing Board Fish

ISA Liwan - Nemo

This work is called ‘Pancake Fish,’ combining elements I love, such as tennis and pancakes. The water patterns on its body expand and change with each droplet, symbolising its ‘heartbeat’ and giving the piece a lively, dynamic expression

ISA Liwan - Judy

This piece uses beige and pale pink as main colours, incorporating clouds, snowflakes, rabbit ears, and bird tails. The overall atmosphere is quiet and gentle, creating a warm and light visual impression

ISA Wuhan - Sonia

The ‘Cat Fish’ is inspired by mermaids, but I thought cats were cuter, so I combined a cat and a fish. It features yellow tones because I love golden shades, giving a warm feeling. The cat paws are heart-shaped; I drew a heart by chance and thought it was pretty, so I made it part of the design.

ISA Wuhan - Bridge

This is my sports fish. Its head and colours are inspired by basketball, reflecting my passion for the sport. I also chose red to represent energy and joy. The swing trajectory, determined eyes, and smiling mouth symbolise the desire to win in competition.

Although the short masterclass has concluded, the seeds of creativity have already taken root in the students’ hearts.

May these young art enthusiasts continue to nurture their imagination and passion, boldly explore the world of art, and grow freely in their creative journeys!
