Recently, a mysterious poster quietly appeared on the bulletin boards across Tsinglan School.

Twin silhouettes, diverging paths.

A British classic spanning over thirty years

Is about to be imbued with the breath and heartbeat unique to Tsinglan in the spring of 2026.

We officially announce:

The Tsinglan MS/HS Thespian Troupe's Annual Major Stage Production —

The Adapted Stage Play "Blood Brothers"

Is now open for auditions and production team recruitment!

Jinshuju registration deadline:

January 10, 2026, 23:59 Saturday

Kamil Turecki (Director)

& Flora Li (Co-Director)

PLOT SUMMARY

As the story progresses through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, we see how systems and social conditions influence behaviour, relationships, and life outcomes. Linda, their childhood friend, becomes central to the growing divide between them, while the choices made by adults — particularly Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Lyons — echo through the boys’ lives with increasingly serious consequences.

This production will explore the play through a stylised, epic theatre approach: using ensemble, narrators, symbolism, and visible stagecraft to highlight the themes of inequality, responsibility, and fate. Rather than focusing on a fully realistic setting, the audience is invited to reflect on how societies create the conditions that shape people’s lives.

Why " Blood Brothers "

Since its premiere in the 1980s, Blood Brothers has remained one of the most enduring classics in British theatre history. It is not merely a story about twins, but a prism reflecting society, class, choice, and humanity.

In this production, we will reinterpret this thirty-year symphony of fate through the eyes of teenagers, using a stylized, epic theatrical approach. This is more than just a performance; it is a deep exploration of "fairness," "choice," and "growth."

Twins of Destinies

Why do the same bloodlines lead to drastically different lives?

Is it individual choice, or the shaping of an era?

In May 2026, the answer will be revealed on the Tsinglan stage.

Our Adaptation,

Unique and Thoughtful

We understand deeply that presenting a profound social tragedy to a young audience requires the utmost care and craftsmanship.

01

Age-Appropriate,

In-Depth Adaptation:

While preserving the core spirit of the original, we have carefully adjusted the script to ensure the content is positive, profound, suitable for teenage participation and viewing, and infused with strong educational values.

02

Epic Theater Presentation:

We will break free from realistic framework, employing ensemble narration, symbolic techniques, potential live music, and physical theatre to create a stage spectacle full of imagination and artistic tension.

03

Cross-Age Character Portrayal:

Students will portray the core characters from childhood through adolescence to adulthood—a rare and challenging opportunity to embody a character's entire lifespan.

Which Ray of Light Will You Be?

On Stage

Actors

In this production, several key characters are portrayed at three stages of life (Child / Teenager / Young Adult–Adult). Students will be considered only for age-appropriate roles.

Child characters will be played by G6-G7 students, teenagers by G8-G9 and adults by G9-G12 students.

Please note that this age grouping is a guideline rather than a strict rule. If a younger student demonstrates strong suitability for a teenage role, or vice versa, casting decisions will be made based on the best fit for the character and the overall production.

We are not looking for perfect performers, but for members who yearn to express themselves, dare to collaborate, and are willing to invest passion and wisdom into a collective creation. On stage, there are no small roles; in creation, everyone is an artist.
