艺创漫谈|什么是一个好作品?

爱莎国际视觉艺术中心的张妍老师,深耕国际艺术教育领域,以丰富的教学经验为基底,为我们分享关于“真诚创作”的深度思考拆解好作品的核心密码。


为艺术学习者带来走心又实用的创作指引。

本科毕业于广州美术学院,研究生毕业于伯明翰城市大学珠宝学院。

作品曾入选Talent 2013 德国慕尼黑国际手工艺作品展、英国维多利亚及阿尔伯特艺术设计展览馆展览等。

深耕国际艺术教育10余年,拥有高等教育教师资格证,参与并主导多个PBL跨学科学习项目、btec内审工作、艺术教育课程及评估体系的研发工作。

指导学生均录取到英国伦敦艺术大学、伯明翰城市大学珠宝学院、格拉斯哥艺术大学、芝加哥艺术学院等一流院校。

Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a Master’s degree from the Jewellery School at Birmingham City University.

Her works have been selected for exhibitions such as Talent 2013 in Munich, Germany, and the Victoria and Albert Museum of Art and Design in the UK.

With over 10 years of experience in international art education, she holds a Higher Education Teaching Qualification and has participated in and led multiple PBL interdisciplinary learning projects, BTEC internal audits, and the development of art education courses and assessment systems.

She has guided students who have been admitted to top institutions including University of the Arts London, Birmingham City University Jewellery School, Glasgow School of Art, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.


什么样的作品,才算好作品?

很多人的第一反应是:
技术成熟、视觉亮眼、概念深刻、紧扣热点。这些都重要,但并不充分。


在所有外在优势之上,有一个更核心的内核——真诚。


可以说,真诚,是好作品的底色。


所谓真诚,并非情绪表达,而是——

Sincerity” — the Core of Great Work

Graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (BA) and Birmingham City University, School of Jewellery (MA).


Her works have been exhibited at Talent 2013, Munich International Handicraft Exhibition, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.


Over 10 years in international art education, holding a higher education teaching qualification.


Led and participated in multiple PBL interdisciplinary projects, BTEC internal audits, and curriculum & assessment system development.

Held senior designer and management positions in Fortune 500 companies, with a profound understanding of the creative industry and design sector.

Served as a senior executive in charge of international programs for high school students at a renowned domestic art academy, establishing teaching philosophies, models, and an education-to-career system through teaching practices.

Possesses 8 years of experience in international art teaching and research, as well as 5 years of management experience.

What Makes a Good Work?

Many first think:
Technical skill, striking visuals, profound concepts, topical themes.


These matter, but they are not enough.

Beyond all external strengths lies a more essential core — sincerity.


Sincerity is the foundation of good work.


True sincerity is not mere emotional expression —



两个角度:为何真诚如此关键?


1️⃣ 从艺术史看:创作从“客观”走向“主观

纵观艺术史,艺术的创作目的不断变化。


原始时期,创作多为记录与祭祀;文艺复兴至20世纪前,艺术服务宗教与权贵,强调再现现实;摄影技术出现后,单纯的“记录”不再具备独特艺术价值。


艺术逐渐转向表达个人体验与主观意识。


艺术的核心,从客观描摹走向主观表达。


在这个转变中,艺术家的真实体验与个人意志变得愈发重要。这正是真诚创作的历史逻辑。


2️⃣ 从升学作品集看:真诚的作品不会空洞

申请季中,评审会看到大量围绕社会议题、科技未来、生态环境或哲学精神展开的作品。


这些主题本身并无问题,但很容易流于空洞,难以真正打动人。

曾有学生选择“贪嗔痴”为主题,大量引用佛教理论。但当被问到:“这些理论与你的生活有什么关联?”她却无法回答。


没有真实经历支撑的概念,只是悬浮的文字。再高深的理论,也难以真正打动人。

Two Perspectives: Why Sincerity Matters


1️⃣Art History: From Objective to Subjective Creation

Throughout art history, the purpose of creation has constantly evolved.


Primitive art: creation focused on record-keeping and ritual;Renaissance to early 20th century: art served religion and the elite, emphasising realistic depiction.After photography: mere documentation lost unique artistic value.


Art shifted towards expressing personal experience and subjective vision.


The core of art has shifted from objective depiction to subjective expression.


In this shift, the artist’s genuine experience and personal intention become increasingly crucial—this is the historical logic of sincere creation.


2️⃣ From the perspective of portfolios: sincere works are never hollow

During application season, reviewers encounter numerous works focused on social issues, technological futures, ecological themes, or philosophical ideas.


These themes are not inherently problematic, but they can easily become hollow and fail to truly move people.


For example, a student once chose the theme of "Greed, Anger, and Ignorance," citing extensive Buddhist theory. When asked, "How do these theories relate to your own life?" she could not answer.


Concepts without grounding in real experience are merely floating words; no matter how profound, theory alone rarely touches the heart.


三个维度:如何创作出真诚的好作品?



真诚不是口号,而是贯穿创作全过程的实践。
可以从三个维度理解:

1️⃣ 主题:扎根真实体验

我们希望学生的选题来自:

  • 真实经历

  • 长期观察

  • 深度自我探索

而不是追逐热点或堆砌理论。


例如一位学生从“我想成为什么样的人”出发,选择“化妆”作为切入口。她记录自己的化妆实验、采访同学、走访实体店进行观察。


每一步调研都源自真实体验,而非概念拼贴。

在课堂中,我们也让学生观察木耳、青椒等日常物品。


在认真观察前,木耳和青椒只是普通食材;但当他们沉下心来长时间跟踪观察、细致感受,才发现木耳内部层层叠叠的肌理,也记录了青椒从新鲜到腐烂的完整状态变化。

学生把这些观察与感受,通过线条、色彩与形状融入画作,让平凡事物呈现出别样的精彩,让人产生无限联想

当他们长期跟踪观察后,才真正看到肌理与变化。


真正的细节,只会在真实观察中出现。

2️⃣ 过程:实验探索,让形式服务内容

创作过程,是思想落地的过程。

媒介、材料、色彩的选择,
不应因为“好看”,
而应回答——

它是否真正服务于主题?

无论是平面还是3D结构,
都需要大量实验、反复测试、不断调整。

唯有经过这样严谨的过程,作品才能真正承载创作者的想法,让真诚落地。



3️⃣ 呈现:让观者看到你的成长逻辑

呈现不仅是最终作品,更是完整创作逻辑的表达。

  • 想法是否原创

  • 思考是否深入

  • 形式是否合理

  • 表达是否连贯


核心只有一个:

让观者看到你如何一步步成为独特的自己。


回到“化妆”主题案例。她通过调研提炼出洞察:化妆本是自我表达,却常被外界标准束缚。

你可以成为你自己。

每个细节都有依据。
字体设计、妆面设计、核心语句,皆来自调研与逻辑推导。

好的创作从不是灵光一现,而是持续深耕。




Three Dimensions: How to Create a Sincere and Good Work?


Sincerity is not a slogan; it runs through the entire creative process.


It can be understood through three dimensions:


1️⃣Theme: Rooted in Real Experienc

We hope students’ themes come from:

  • Real experiences,

  • long-term observation

  • deep self-exploration

Rather than chasing trends or piling up theory.


For example, a student began with the question, "What kind of person do I want to be?" and chose “makeup” as her entry point. She documented her own experiments, interviewed classmates, and observed in physical stores.

Each step of her research was based on real experience, not concept collage.

In class, we also have students observe everyday objects like wood ear mushrooms and green peppers.


At first, wood ear mushrooms and green peppers are just ordinary ingredients; but when students focus on them, observing over time and paying close attention, they notice the intricate layers inside the mushrooms and the full process of the peppers from fresh to decay.

Students incorporate these observations and sensations into their artwork through lines, colours, and shapes, transforming ordinary objects into extraordinary visual stories that spark endless imagination.

Only after long-term observation do they truly perceive the textures and transformations.


True details only emerge through genuine observation.

2️⃣ Process: Experimentation – Let Form Serve Content

The creative process is where ideas take shape.


Choices of medium, material, and colour should not be based on “looking good”

Does it truly serve the theme?

Whether 2D or 3D, extensive experimentation, repeated testing, and constant refinement are required.

Only through such a rigorous process can a work truly carry the creator’s intention, making sincerity tangible.


3️⃣ Presentation: Reveal the logic of your growth

Presentation is not just the final work; it expresses the full logic of your creative process.

  • Is the idea original?

  • Is the thinking thorough?

  • Is the form appropriate?

  • Is the expression coherent?


There is only one core principle:

Let the audience see how you gradually become your unique self.

Returning to the “make-up” theme case: through research, she realised that make-up is a form of self-expression, yet often constrained by external standards.

Her final work, a mirror installation, allows participants to replace make-up fragments to form a sentence:

You can be yourself.

Every detail is grounded in research.


The typography, make-up design, and core message all stem from research and logical reasoning.


Good creation is never a sudden inspiration—it comes from continuous deep cultivation.



教学初心:以真诚为底


我们的教学,也始终围绕“真诚创作”的标准展开。

我们的评价体系参考 A Level AO1–AO4:

  • A01-概念发展

  • A02-实验探索

  • A03-过程记录

  • A04-最终呈现

四个维度同等重要。

完整逻辑,比单一亮点更重要。



 结语:什么才是真正的好作品?




技术高超、视觉炫目、概念深刻,都可以成为加分项。


但若缺少真诚,再华丽的表达,也难以真正触动人。


主题不悬浮,过程不敷衍,呈现不刻意。
每一个创作选择,都有真实来源。


这样的作品,才称得上真正的好作品。



Teaching Philosophy: Grounded in Sincerity


Our teaching always centres on the principle of sincere creation.


Our assessment system follows the A Level AO1–AO4 framework:

  • A01 – Concept Development

  • A02 – Experimental Exploration

  • A03 – Process Documentation

  • A02 – Experimental Exploration


All four dimensions are equally important.


A complete logic matters more than a single standout feature.


Conclusion: What Makes a Truly Good Work?




Technical skill, striking visuals, and deep concepts can all be bonus points.


But without sincerity, even the most dazzling expression cannot truly move people.


The theme is grounded, the process is diligent, and the presentation is natural.


Every creative choice is rooted in authenticity.


Only such works can be called truly good creations.
