2025 Youth in Public Health Symposium at Tsinglan School
From its first launch at the Harvard Center Shanghai in 2016 to its establishment at Tsinglan School in the Greater Bay Area in 2024, the Youth in Public Health Symposium (YPHS) has marked a full decade of meaningful progress.
In 2026, this tuition-free, global academic initiative will once again take place at Tsinglan School, Songshan Lake, Dongguan, marking its third consecutive year on campus.
Led by Harvard faculty and supported by an outstanding international mentor team, the program offers motivated secondary school students an open platform for academic exchange and hands-on research.
Applications are now open, inviting young scholars to explore public health, pursue scientific inquiry, and ignite their passion for research.
The program will run from August 10 to August 14, 2026. On August 9, the day before the program begins, a public, non-profit lecture open to the community will be held. Please stay tuned for further updates and registration information for the lecture.
Summer Program Application Guide
Students entering Grades 9 to 12 in the 2026–2027 academic year, with:
A strong interest in public health
Solid academic foundations
Sufficient English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for a fully English-taught program
Enrollment Quota:100 students
Early Application Deadline: March 15, 2026, 23:59 (Beijing Time)
Tsinglan School will assist Professor Liming Liang’s Harvard team in application review.
First-Round Results: Early April 2026 (Admissions & Waitlist released together)

As a fully non-profit initiative, the program charges no tuition. Accommodation and meals are provided on campus. Students only cover transportation to Dongguan, insurance, and personal expenses. Participants will benefit from:
Instruction by Professor Liming Liang (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health) and his PhD research team
A fully English curriculum covering eight core areas, including biostatistics, epidemiology, and health policy

Opportunities to be invited to the 2027 Youth in Public Health Symposium at Harvard in Boston
Founded in 2016 by Professor Liming Liang, the Youth in Public Health Symposium is jointly organized by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, IDDH-HGG, and Tsinglan School. Its mission is to cultivate future leaders in public health through research-driven, public-interest–oriented.
Over the past decade, the program has expanded from Boston to Shanghai and now the Greater Bay Area, remaining committed to its core belief: breaking barriers and sharing world-class academic resources.
Through guided research practice, students learn to identify social needs, apply scientific methods, and develop responsibility alongside academic rigor, planting early seeds of inquiry and impact.
The program actively welcomes students from diverse backgrounds, aiming to reduce geographic and economic barriers and to identify and nurture young talent with strong research potential.
Tsinglan School was jointly founded in August 2017 by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua University High School. The school offers a full K–12 education, serving over 2,000 students with 400+ faculty and staff. Guided by its motto, “Try and All is Possible,” Tsinglan nurtures globally minded students rooted in Chinese culture, with strong academics, creativity, and individual strengths.
Led by Mr. Wang Dianjun, Chairman of the Board (former Principal of Tsinghua University High School), and Principal Li Wenping (former Principal of Tsinghua International School), Tsinglan upholds a student-centered, personalized approach, empowering students for lifelong development.

In 2024 and 2025, the program was successfully hosted at Tsinglan School, attracting over 200 outstanding students from around the world.
Under the mentorship of Harvard professors and doctoral researchers, students explored topics ranging from global health and epidemiology to biostatistics and health policy. Through core courses and electives, they completed the full research cycle—from defining questions to delivering academic presentations.
Distinguished guest speakers from academia, industry, and the non-profit sector, who have participated in the summer program, enriched the students’ experience with real-world perspectives, greatly broadening their horizons and deepening their commitment to public health. They included Professor Qiu Xiu (Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center), Dr. Yu Li (IDEA–XtalPi Technology Laboratory), Ms. Zhou You (Director, Shiyu Children’s Public Welfare Foundation), Academician Gu Dongfeng (Visiting Professor, Southern University of Science and Technology), Mr. Du Cong (Founder, Zhixing Foundation), Ms. Wang Qian (Vice President, WuXi Biologics), and Mr. Wang Yi (Board Member, Tsinglan School; Executive Director, Harvard Center Shanghai).
