On February 6, 2026, two of our MYP Visual Arts students Eva Shi and Martha Zeitiz, achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the ACAMIS Art Battle Invitational hosted by the Canadian International School of Guangzhou. Competing against students from international schools across the region, the pair were awarded 1st place, demonstrating both Creative Thinking and remarkable collaboration skills, which are the key examples of our ATLs in action!
Artworks from CISH Maple Dragons Eva and Martha
The ACAMIS Art Battle challenges participants to create an original artwork on the spot within a strict 30-minute time limit. At the start of each round, teams are given surprise prompts, themes, stylistic influences, and symbolic requirements, demanding quick thinking and adaptability. Students must interpret the theme, incorporate artistic references, and express a cohesive visual idea while working under intense time pressure. Eva and Martha worked on A3 canvases using multimedia materials sponsored by Faber-Castell. Across three progressive rounds, they combined careful planning with spontaneous creativity, negotiating ideas, dividing responsibilities, and refining their composition in real time. Their final artwork stood out for its confident visual language, thoughtful symbolism, and balanced integration of style and personal expression.
CISH is excited to see our students at these artistic community, we thank the organization of the Arts team in CISG. Such event encourages a sense of resilience, and the courage to experiment. Through presenting artworks publicly to judges and peers, it allows our students to strengthen their communication and reflection skills.
For the art program here at Canadian International School of Hefei, this achievement represents more than a victory. Eva and Martha demonstrated what authentic art education looks like: risk-taking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Their success is an inspiration to our growing community of young artists and a proud moment for our school. Go Maple Dragons!
