At first glance, the works in this exhibition seem to speak about very different things—life, death, conflict, and transformation. Yet, as the viewer moves through the space, these themes begin to connect, forming a continuous reflection on change and human experience.

As part of last week’s STEAM Week at CISK, the DP Art Exhibition presents a more conceptual and reflective dimension of student learning.

DP Art Exhibition

The exhibition brings together two distinct yet interconnected bodies of work, each exploring fundamental aspects of human experience through different conceptual lenses. Developed through a sustained process of inquiry and experimentation, it reflects not only the final outcomes, but also the evolving thinking behind each piece.

One series centres on the cycle of life—from birth and growth to transformation, decay, and regeneration—inviting viewers to reconsider life as an ongoing and interconnected process. The other explores the theme of war, examining its impact from individual emotions to wider social and global contexts. Together, these works create a dialogue between the personal and the collective, the internal and the external.

Through a range of approaches including installation, sculpture, and mixed media, students construct layered visual narratives using symbolic forms. Organic elements, human figures, and contrasting materials create a tension between fragility and strength, growth and decay, while recurring symbols reinforce themes of conflict, continuity, and change. Each work represents not only a final outcome, but also a process of inquiry, experimentation, and reflection.

At the exhibition, PYP students, along with visiting guests, stepped into the space. With curiosity, they observed each artwork, discussing and asking questions as they tried to understand the ideas behind them. From “What is this?” to “Why was it made this way?”, these natural responses created connections across different age groups and audiences through art.

Curated as an emotional journey, the exhibition guides viewers from familiarity to intensity, and ultimately toward reflection. Through these works, students demonstrate both technical exploration and a growing sense of personal voice, engaging thoughtfully with the world around them.
