The excitement continued to build with this year's MYP Science Fair, which was a stupendous success. PYP students alongside MYP 1 and 2 were warmly received by older students as they asked MYP 3 students questions on a diverse range of science experiments illustrated on display boards. Our Grade 8 students each chose a specific research question and applied the scientific method to form evidence-based conclusions, deepening their scientific knowledge. Popular research questions included "How does applied pressure affect the electrical power from a piezoelectric tile?" and "How does soap concentration affect the speed of a self-propelled boat on water?".
Meanwhile, younger visitors explored a variety of dry ice activities hosted by the ninth graders, including dry ice smoke rings and an amazing cyclone creation. The tenth graders performed chemistry, physics, and biology activities where students got involved in making pipe cleaner flowers, determining their lung capacity, exploring lava lamps, and crafting bismuth crystals. The grand finale featured cookies and cream ice cream made from dry ice, sparklers, and a stupefying sugar rocket. Overall, it was a grand opportunity for all participants to share in the astounding field of science.
