“LeAnna!

  • PSED(个人、社交与情感发展):学会合作、分享、互助,提升社交能力。

  • PSED(个人、社交与情感发展):在分享中获得肯定,内心更阳光、自信。

脏玩,不是混乱;

“LeAnna, I want to make a chocolate cake!”

“I’ll help you scoop up the mud!”

“This spatula is so much fun—the mud falls right through it!”

The mud kitchen in Class K3A at BeeMee Xiangfu Campus is officially open for business!

No fancy tableware - just soft mud; no set recipes - only the children’s wildest imaginations. And like magic, a messy play session filled with laughter, the scent of soil, and little surprises began in full swing. Drawing from the seven key areas of development in the EYFS framework, we’ve woven tool recognition, independent choice, cooperative play, and sensory exploration right into the fun of mud play, allowing children to grow effortlessly while in their most relaxed state. Nature is the best classroom for children and messy play is the most precious experience of childhood.

01

Little Kitchen Tools, Big Discoveries - Kitchen Tools I Know

“Kids, take a look at our mud kitchen today. Who are all the little helpers that have come to join us?”

The teacher brought out a small shovel, a small strainer, a small bowl, a rolling pin, molds, and a small spoon, one by one… The children’s eyes immediately widened, and they couldn’t resist gently touching the items with their little hands.

“This is a shovel! I have one at home too!”

“This lets things pour out! Just like rain!”

The teacher guided everyone through each tool, naming them, feeling their different textures, and trying them out. The children chatted away, connecting their everyday experiences with the play before them, and their curiosity and interest were instantly sparked.

EYFS Key Areas:

  • CL (Communication and Language): Children confidently named the tools, actively shared their discoveries, and expressed themselves with greater confidence.

  • UW (Understanding the World): Children learned about the uses of everyday tools, explored different materials and functions, and built up their life experiences.

02

Choose What You Like - You’re in Charge of Your Tools

“Now, kids, you can choose your favorite tools! Pick whichever one you like best!”

No sooner had the words left her mouth than the children became excited:

“I want a shovel! I’m going to dig up lots and lots of ‘flour’!”

“I want a strainer! I’m going to sift the finest mud!”

“I want a small bowl - I’m going to make soup!”

Without any prompting or interference, every child carefully selected their own “little kitchen utensils.” In that moment of making their own choices, their eyes sparkled, and their little hearts were filled with a sense of accomplishment - I am the master of this game!

EYFS Key Areas:

  • PD (Physical Development): Picking up, exchanging, and arranging tools helps develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

  • PSED (Personal, Social, and Emotional Development): Making independent choices builds confidence and a sense of belonging, teaching children to make decisions for themselves.

03

It’s More Fun Together - Cooperation Is the Real Superpower

“Let’s get cooking in the mud kitchen!”

The children gathered in small groups, transforming into little head chefs:

“I’ll dig up the mud!”

“I’ll get the bowls!”

“I’ll do the decorating!”

The mud is too dry, so someone calls out, “Add some water!”

There’s too much mud, so a friend immediately steps in to help: “Let me help you pack it down!”

When there aren’t enough tools, a sweet voice offers, “Here, you can borrow mine!”

“Look, teacher! We made a big cake together!”

“We’re the best partners!”

Amid the laughter and joy, the children learned to share, wait, cooperate, and help one another. It turns out that playing together is even more fun than playing alone.

EYFS Key Areas:

  • PSED (Personal, Social, and Emotional Development): Learning to cooperate, share, and help one another, while enhancing social skills.

  • CL (Communication and Language): Actively communicating and dividing tasks, with language used naturally in authentic play.

04

Getting Dirty Is So Much Fun - Little Hands Shape a Big World

“What does the mud feel like?”

“Soft! Cool! Smelly!”

The children let loose, kneading, molding, patting, pressing, scooping, sifting, and rolling...

They rolled the mud into “flatbreads” with rolling pins, pressed cute shapes out with molds, drew patterns with little spoons, and let the mud fall like a light rain through a colander.

“I made a strawberry cake!”

“Mine is a pizza! I added lots of ‘veggies’!”

“Mine is soup! It’s piping hot!”

There are no right or wrong answers, no standard solutions - every creation is a unique expression of childhood innocence. It’s okay to get a little dirty; having fun is what matters most!

EYFS Key Areas:

  • AED (Expressive Arts and Design): Free creation, bold expression, and the natural growth of artistic ability.

  • PD (Physical Development): Engaging all muscles, with gross and fine motor skills developing in tandem.

  • UW (Understanding the World): Sensing the properties of clay, exploring material transformations, and connecting with nature.

05

Here I Am to Share - I’ll Tell You What Makes Me Happy

After the game ended, everyone gathered in a circle for a little sharing session:

“I used a ladle - it was so much fun!”

“I made a cake with my best friend!”

“I love playing with mud! It was so much fun!”

Every time a child shares, they grow; every time they are listened to, their confidence grows.

EYFS Key Areas:

  • CL (Communication and Language): Children describe the game process and their feelings in full, improving their logical expression.

  • PSED (Personal, Social, and Emotional Development): Children gain affirmation through sharing, fostering a more positive and confident mindset.

A simple game of messy play in a mud kitchen holds immense power for growth. From learning about tools and making independent choices, to cooperative play, creative expression, and bold sharing, the children of K3A have perfectly embodied the holistic development of the EYFS in a natural, free, and joyful atmosphere.

Messy play is not chaos;

Play is not a waste of time.

This is the truest essence of childhood - and the best form of education.

In the future, BeeMee will continue to guide children

to learn through play, find joy in learning, and grow through joy,

so that every little one

may shine brightly in an environment of love and freedom.
