Shaping Futures Together: Stronger Partnership & Career Exploration
This week, our students took part in Career Day—an opportunity to explore future pathways, connect learning with the real world, and gain meaningful insight into a wide range of professions.
Real-World Learning Beyond Campus
For our MYP students, Career Day became an immersive real-world experience through a series of field trips. Grade 10 students visited BMO Shanghai, where they were introduced to the dynamic environment of finance and business. Meanwhile, Grade 8 and 9 students spent time at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, gaining a glimpse into university life and future academic possibilities. Grade 6 and 7 students explored Suzhou Xiao Jing Handicraft Art Village, engaging with traditional craftsmanship and creative industries. These experiences allowed students to see how their learning connects to real-world contexts and future opportunities.
Learning from Our Parent Community
In the Primary School, Career Day took on a more personal and interactive approach, as parents were invited into classrooms to share their professional experiences. Through these sessions, students were introduced to a wide range of careers, from science and design to filmmaking, engineering, education, and even yoga. Each presentation offered a unique perspective, helping students understand not only what different professions involve, but also the skills, creativity, and passion behind them. By hearing directly from parents and engaging in authentic conversations, students were able to connect their classroom learning with the wider world, sparking curiosity and expanding their sense of possibility.
Strengthening Home-School Connections
At the same time, Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC) provided an important opportunity for deeper connection within the CISK community. These meetings created space for meaningful dialogue between teachers and families, allowing parents to gain a clearer understanding of their child’s learning journey, progress, and areas for growth. Through open and constructive conversations, teachers and parents worked together to support each student’s development, reinforcing the strong partnership that underpins student success.
Career Day at CISK is not about asking students to decide their future today, but about opening doors and broadening perspectives. Together with moments like PTC, these experiences reflect our commitment to building a connected and supportive learning community—one where students are encouraged to explore, reflect, and grow.
