 | G5-G7学子同台竞技,共赏繁体字之美


To support a smooth transition between primary and secondary learning, and to spark students’ interest in traditional Chinese characters, the Chinese departments from both Primary and Secondary divs worked together to design the “Traditional Chinese Character Challenge · Last One Standing” for G5–G7 students.


为促进初中与小学的衔接,激发学生对繁体字的学习兴趣,初中中文组与小学中文组教师携手策划了面向G5-G7学段的“繁体字大赛·一站到底”活动。






A total of 11 teams took part in the competition, each formed by randomly pairing Grade 7 students with students from Grades 5 and 6—new teammates, working side by side.

本次大赛共分为11个小组,每组由七年级与五、六年级同学随机组成,临时搭档、并肩作战。


To help primary students become familiar with Grade 7 traditional characters in advance, and to ensure fairness, secondary Chinese teachers carefully selected characters with significant differences between simplified and traditional forms from both common usage and the Grade 7 curriculum. A set of 100 simplified-traditional character pairs was prepared for primary students, who explored them under the guidance of their teachers before the competition.

为帮助小学部同学提前熟悉七年级繁体字以利初小衔接,同时保证比赛公平,初中部中文老师从常见用字和七年级课本中挑选了字形差异较大的繁体字,为小学部同学准备了100组简繁对照题库,并由小学部中文老师带领学习。


On the day of the event, students took their seats in an orderly manner as the competition began under the host’s guidance—quickly building a sense of excitement in the room. Ms. Hina, our IB Principal, and Ms. Diana, our Junior Secondary Principal, were present throughout, offering encouragement from the sidelines.

比赛当天,同学们有序落座,在主持人的引导下,一场紧张刺激的挑战赛正式开启。IB部校长 Ms. Hina 与初中部校长 Ms. Diana 全程出席,在场边为同学们加油助威。









The competition was conducted via Kahoot! platform, with a special “double points for difficult questions” round that added suspense and gave trailing teams a chance to catch up.

比赛采用Kahoot!平台进行竞答,并设有“难题双倍积分”环节,让暂时落后的小组也有机会反超。


The questions ranged from basic simplified–traditional conversions to more challenging distinctions—such as how the character “干” corresponds to “乾” or “幹” in different contexts. In addition, questions featuring traditional character usage in Taiwan and Hong Kong were included, helping students gain a broader understanding of regional differences.

题目不仅涵盖基础的简繁对照,还设置了拔高题——例如“干”字在不同语境下对应的“乾”、“幹”等特殊变化;此外还增设了台湾地区和香港地区繁体字的考查题,帮助同学们了解不同地区繁体字用法的差异。













With the combined efforts of students from Grades 5, 6, and 7, the competition was both fast-paced and well-organised. Within each team, students naturally took on different roles—guiding, reminding, and supporting one another. After several intense rounds, the first-, second-, and third-place prizes were awarded.


在五、六、七年级同学的共同努力下,整场大赛紧张刺激又高效有序。小组成员分工明确,互相指导、提示,最终决出了一、二、三等奖。





Following the competition, the atmosphere shifted to something more relaxed and creative with a traditional character bookmark design activity. Each student received a blank gilded bookmark in a Chinese style and selected a favourite traditional character to transform into an artwork.


比赛结束后,还安排了轻松的繁体字书签绘画环节。每位同学获得一张空白的洒金中国风书签,可以挑选自己喜欢的繁体字进行艺术创作。



As soft music played in the background, secondary students patiently guided their younger teammates in writing, while primary students brought in fresh and imaginative ideas. The room felt calm and focused, with everyone immersed in their own creations—some added a majestic dragon form to the character “龍”, while others decorated “錢” with gold ingots and ancient coins.

伴随着舒缓的音乐,初中部的同学耐心指导小学部同学书写繁体字,而小学部的同学也为初中部同学贡献了许多有趣的创作灵感。现场和谐而专注,每个人都沉浸在自己的作品中——有的为“龍”字添上华丽的龙身,有的为“錢”字缀上金元宝和铜钱。


Different interpretations led to a wide range of creative outcomes, and every student walked away with a one-of-a-kind bookmark.

不同的理解碰撞出多样的创意,每位同学都收获了独一无二的繁体字书签。



The “Traditional Chinese Character Challenge” came to a successful close. Through the competition, G5–G7 students not only deepened their learning and appreciation of traditional characters, but also built meaningful connections through collaboration.


We hope that both the enthusiasm for traditional characters and the cross-grade friendships will continue to grow in the days ahead.


本次“繁体字大赛·一站到底”圆满落下帷幕。G5-G7的同学们不仅以赛促学,领略了繁体字之美,更在合作中增进了彼此的友谊。这场赛事,既是一次挑战,也是一次美好的相遇。我们期待这份对繁体字的热情与跨年级的情谊,在今后的学习生活中继续生长。
