PBL Wetland Expedition | 水漾华阳湖:八年级PBL实践——跨学科湿地课堂

PBL Wetland Expedition

To broaden students' horizons and deepen their understanding of the importance of wetland ecology, our Grade 8 held an interdisciplinary project-based learning activity themed "Sparkling Huayang Lake". On the afternoon of Monday, 27th April, we organised students to visit Huayang Lake National Wetland Park.


为了拓宽学生的视野,并加深他们对湿地生态重要性的理解,我们八年级举办一场以 「水漾华阳湖」 为主题的跨学科项目式学习活动。4月27日(星期一)下午我们组织学生参观华阳湖国家湿地公园。



Once a polluted area, this site has undergone remarkable environmental restoration and has become a national-level model of "Beautiful Rivers and Lakes", serving as an ideal "living textbook" for students. This activity guided students to conduct project-based learning from the perspectives of seven subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chinese History, Geography, Chinese Language, and Mathematics.


这个曾经受污染的地区,经过显著的环境修复后,已成为国家级「美丽河湖」的典范,为学生提供了一本理想的「活教材」。此次活动引导学生从七个学科的角度进行项目式学习,包括物理、化学、生物、中国历史、地理、中国语文以及数学。



In Physics, students applied classroom knowledge to observe the motion of objects in the field, measure walking speed, plot distance-speed graphs, and analyse the relationship between force and motion.


学生运用课堂所学的物理知识,实地观察物体的运动状态、测量步行速度、绘画路程与速度关系图,并思考力与运动之间的关系。



In Chemistry, students collected water samples from different areas of the wetland park, tested and recorded the pH value of the water, analysed possible factors affecting water acidity and alkalinity, and put forward suggestions for protecting wetland water quality.


化学科方面,学生们采集湿地公园不同区域水样,检测并记录水体的酸碱度,分析影响水体酸碱度的可能因素,提出保护湿地水质的建议。




In Mathematics, students practically applied knowledge of scales and statistics to complete measurement tasks and draw line graphs.


此外,在数学方面,学生实地应用比例尺和统计学的数学知识进行测量任务,并绘制折线图。



Wetlands are closely related to the sustainable development taught in Geography. Students searched for information boards on the Five Major Construction Tasks in the park to understand how the wetland park achieves sustainable development in the five areas: water resource conservation, water security enhancement, water environment improvement, aquatic ecosystem protection and restoration, and the construction of landscape and recreation systems.


湿地跟地理所学的可持续发展有密切的关系,学生们努力在公园里找出一个关于五大建设任务的资料牌,明白湿地公园如何在水资源保护、水安全提升、水环境改善、水生态保护与修复、景观与游憩系统构建五方面做到可持续发展。




Huayang Lake is rich in ancient bridges and architectural styles of ancient villages. From a historical perspective, students interviewed park staff and local residents to learn about the historical stories of the water town, as well as folk cultures such as dragon boating and farming traditions.


华阳湖有很多古桥和古村落建筑风格,学生们也从历史角度采访公园工作人员和当地居民,了解水乡历史故事、龙舟农耕等民俗文化。



In addition, students observed birds, fish, insects and aquatic plants in the wetland, recorded the names and characteristics of the organisms they saw, identified their roles in the ecosystem, and explored the interrelationships between living things.


另外,学生们观察湿地中的鸟类、鱼类、昆虫及水生植物,记录所见生物的名称和特征,分辨生物在生态系统中的角色,探究生物之间的相互关系。



Finally, through on-site observation, creative writing and interactive sharing, students strengthened their observation skills, language expression and literary creativity. This allowed Chinese language learning to move from the classroom to the real world, enabling students to use and learn Chinese in practice.


最后,通过实地观察、创意写作、互动分享,训练学生们的观察捕捉能力、语言表达能力和文学创作能力,让语文学习从课堂走向实景,实现在实践中用语文、学语文。
