The HSBC | Forbes assessment evaluates schools across four dimensions: academic achievement, teaching quality, foundational conditions, and innovation and development. Rather than drawing conclusions from isolated examples of top university placements, the framework examines whether a school can deliver consistently high-quality education over time — whether results hold up year on year, whether the teaching infrastructure is genuinely sustainable, whether campus resources and international accreditations form a solid foundation, and whether the integration of technology in the classroom goes beyond surface-level adoption. Recognition within this framework reflects the kind of real, multi-dimensional educational credibility that stands up to scrutiny.

Diverse Academic Pathways

ISA schools offer a wide range of academic pathways — including the IB, A Levels, AP, HKDSE, and the Chinese National Curriculum — catering to students of varied academic backgrounds and aspirations. Within the IB framework, ISA continually deepens its work in curriculum integration and cross-cultural pedagogy, drawing on the strengths of each programme and weaving them into everyday teaching practice. The result is an environment where students from different backgrounds, with different interests and ambitions, can each find a path that genuinely fits who they are.

Faculty

The ceiling of any school is, in large part, set by the people who stand at the front of the classroom. ISA teachers hold IB certificates awarded by the IBO; 75% hold postgraduate qualifications, all are trained in education as their specialist discipline, and the team brings an average of over ten years' teaching experience. Every member of the faculty engages regularly in professional development through domestic and international educational forums and training programmes. International teachers are drawn from approximately 35 countries and territories, and include graduates of Oxford, Cambridge, Peking University, and Tsinghua University — educators who bring not only subject expertise, but a genuine breadth of perspective and professional dedication to their work.

Holistic Education

ISA schools offer a rich CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) programme spanning language, humanities, the arts, sport, technology, and leadership — creating a school life in which academic rigour, personal interests, and character development reinforce one another rather than compete. Academic and University Guidance Support

At the group level, ISA has built a dual-track system of academic and university guidance support. The ISA Academic Centre serves as the central platform for academic strategy and coordination across the group, driving consistency in curriculum and the ongoing improvement of teaching quality — ensuring that every ISA school operates within a shared framework of high standards. 


The ISA University Guidance team takes a long-view approach to student development, engaging with each student from the moment they join ISA. As of 29 April 2026, ISA students have received a total of 1,454 offers, with cumulative scholarships amounting to US$13.23 million.


Destinations span the United States, United Kingdom, Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, and the world's leading art institutions, including Caltech, Duke University, Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, and the Rhode Island School of Design, among many others.


From the UK's G5 and the US Top 20, to Hong Kong's leading universities and the world's most prestigious art schools — these outcomes are not the result of any single outstanding cohort, but a reflection of ISA's consistent, year-on-year performance across multiple academic pathways.

A ranking can fix a point of reference — a snapshot of a school's quality at a particular moment in time. But what it can capture is, at best, a partial outline of what education actually is.


The real work of education happens in quieter, more ordinary places. It is the moment a child discovers, mid-project, what they are genuinely good at. It is a teacher on an unremarkable afternoon who shifts the way a student sees a problem — and perhaps themselves. It is the slow, barely visible process by which a young person, moving between languages and cultures, begins to form a clearer sense of who they are and where they want to go. None of this appears on any ranking.

The demands placed on education today are also unlike those of any previous era. Technology is reshaping how people learn faster than institutions can track. The logic governing global talent and opportunity is being rewritten. The world that today's young people will inhabit is one whose complexity no existing framework of education was fully designed to meet.

ISA does not have all the answers to what lies ahead. But what ISA can do — and will continue to do — is keep its attention where it has always been: on each individual student, and on what they need to grow. The right curriculum, the right support, the right conditions in which to take risks and find their footing. That has always been ISA's work. Whatever the world looks like, that will remain ISA's constant.
