Secondary Staff Development Day
中学部教师发展日:提升教与学,赋能教师成长
On 8 May, Friday, it was the third Staff Development Day of ASJ(Dongguan) this year. It was a one-day event which consisted of three training sessions designed for the teachers of both junior and senior secondary divs and an afternoon training session arranged by secondary divs.
2025年5月8日星期五,是东莞暨大港澳子弟学校今年第三个教师发展日。这一整天的活动包含三场培训,面向初中部和高中部的教师,此外还有一场由中学部自行安排的下午培训。

The first session focusing on “Analysis on Students’ Performance Data to Enhance Learning & Teaching” commenced at 8:30 am. Our guest speaker, Dr. Stanley WONG, illustrated the importance of improving the teaching quality by referring to students’ assessment data. Teachers have to reflect and adjust the teaching plans accordingly. Furthermore, he explained the differences between “Assessment of Learning”, ‘Assessment for Learning” and “Assessment as Learning”. The examples illustrated were practical for teachers to apply the techniques in their daily teaching.
第一场培训于上午8:30开始,主题为“透过学生表现数据分析提升教与学”。特邀讲师黄兆雄博士阐述了利用学生评估数据提升教学质量的重要性,并指出教师需要据此反思和调整教学计划。此外,他还解释了“对学习的评估”“促进学习的评估”和“作为学习的评估”之间的区别。所列举的实例具有实用性,便于教师在日后的教学中应用这些技巧。

The second session, introduced by our Executive Principal, Mr. Samuel KAM, was titled “Simple & Effective Techniques for Learning & Teaching”. Principal KAM had clearly defined instructional strategies which stand for structured methods, techniques and approaches that teachers use to deliver teaching contents and facilitate learning that meets the educational goals. He also emphasized that high-performing classrooms use a wide variety of techniques because students learn in different ways. Teachers have to be flexible at all time, observing students’ responses in class, reflecting the teaching methodologies and adjusting the teaching contents and schedule.
第二场培训由我校执行校长金礼贤先生介绍,主题为“简单有效的教与学技巧”。金校长明确定义了教学策略——即教师用于传递教学内容、促进学习以实现教育目标的结构化方法、技巧和途径。他还强调,高效课堂会运用多样化的技巧,因为学生的学习方式各不相同。教师必须始终保持灵活性,观察学生的课堂反应,反思教学方法,并调整教学内容与进度。


The third session was arranged by Red Cross in Dongguan. He made clear demonstrations on the steps of handling a patient who had fainted. He kept reminding teachers that they needed to be patient, caring and considerate. He also corrected the wrong steps when teachers had their practices after his demonstrations. Teachers were of the opinion that the skills that they learned were very practical and useful in dealing with sudden students’ cases at school.
第三场培训由东莞市红十字会组织。他清晰地演示了处理晕厥患者的步骤,并反复提醒教师需要保持耐心、关怀和体恤之心。在教师进行实操练习时,他还纠正了错误的步骤。教师们认为,所学到的技能在处理校园内学生突发情况时非常实用且有效。



In the afternoon, the sessions were planned by junior and senior secondary divs. The talk launched by Principal Diana ZHANG, principal of junior secondary, was “The Future Classroom”. She first reminded teachers that teaching is a special occupation that requires not only teaching subject knowledge, but also the spirit of dedication, educational beliefs. Moreover, she mentioned that teachers with a broad worldview and stable values can cultivate students with clear expectations and values in life.
下午的培训由初中部和高中部分别策划。初中部校长张悦女士首先开讲,主题为“未来的课堂”。她首先提醒大家,教育是一项特殊的职业,不仅需要传授学科知识,还需要奉献精神和教育信念。此外,她提到,具有广阔世界观和稳定价值观的教师,才能培养出对人生有明确期望和价值观的学生。


The sessions of the senior secondary were the extended parts of Dr. Stanley WONG’s session in the morning part. Teachers of different subjects evaluated students’ performance in the Uniform Test in Term 2 with the use of the assessment data and discussed the feasible measures in enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in the upcoming months of this academic year.
高中部的培训是上午黄博士讲座的延伸环节。各学科教师利用评估数据分析了学生在第二学期统一测试中的表现,并讨论了在本学年剩余几个月中提升教与学质量的可行措施。


Staff Development Day aims to provide teachers with a chance to develop their professionalism. This day is designed to support teachers’ growth and strengthen their impact in the classroom so as to benefit our students in their learning process.
教职工发展日旨在为教师提供提升专业能力的机会。这一活动旨在支持教师的成长,增强他们在课堂上的影响力,从而让我们的学生在学习过程中受益。
