ISD hosted the edSummit Dongguan 2026: The Future of Education delivered in partnership with edEvents. Centered on the educational transformation driven by the rise of generative AI, the summit brought together global education researchers, educators, and industry partners to explore the theme of Education & Learning, Innovation and Transformation. Through forward-looking discussions and practical case sharing, the event offered fresh perspectives for advancing high-quality regional education development.
More than 80 education experts and educators from 16 leading international schools across the Greater Bay Area participated in the summit, including representatives from the SCG, ISA Science City, Shenzhen College of International Education, SGA, ISNS, SIS and St Bees Dongguan, along with representatives from Education Bureau participated in the summit.
The edEvents is a media and networking platform for international educators, connecting schools, teachers, and solution providers through professional development events, recruitment opportunities, and collaborative networks. The summit aims to foster global collaboration, innovation, and professional growth within the education sector.
The session introduced practical teaching frameworks designed to help schools and educators implement human-centered AI practices in the classroom. Keynote speaker Dr. Justin Zhang, Assistant Professor and Director of IBEC at Namseoul University, outlined three key classroom constraints for the AI era:
During the session, scholars also shared recent research findings and classroom observations on the impact of AI in education.
Addressing widespread concerns about remaining relevant in the age of AI, the session also proposed a framework for career resilience:
Career Resilience = (Heart × Hands × AI Adoption) / (Inertia + Isolation + Imitability)
Research has shown that professions requiring dexterity, adaptability, interpersonal interaction, and real-world problem-solving remain the least vulnerable to automation. As a result, schools were encouraged to prioritize interdisciplinary and experiential learning opportunities that cultivate practical, human-centered competencies.
Our K-12 Innovation Coordinator, Mr. Sam Rajesh, shared a range of initiatives that help our students gain real-world experience, including secondary school internship programs, student leadership conferences, TEDx events, interdisciplinary clubs, and student-led podcast projects. These programs provide our students with opportunities to lead, create, and grow in an AI-driven world.
Grade 11 student Alex P. also shared his experience in the internship program, noting that the hands-on learning strengthened his problem-solving and communication skills and gave him a clearer sense of his future direction.
The summit was supported by industry partners including upGrad, Otus, and Beyond Classrooms, offering educators access to a broad range of global educational resources.
Looking ahead, ISD will continue collaborating with international education partners to explore pathways for technology-enhanced learning and to advance more intelligent, personalized, and high-quality educational practices.
