Congratulations to Alice Y., a member of the Class of 2026, on receiving an unconditional offer from the College of Medicine at National Taiwan University! For Alice, who is passionate about medicine and aspires to become a doctor, this achievement is the result of years of exploration, dedication, and hard work.
For international students, receiving an unconditional offer typically means that a student has consistently demonstrated excellent academic performance while fully meeting the university’s requirements in academics, language proficiency, and overall competencies. In today’s highly competitive international admissions landscape, standing out among a large pool of outstanding applicants is no easy achievement.
Founded in 1928, National Taiwan University (NTU) is a comprehensive public research university. Known as the best university in Taiwan, NTU enjoys a strong international reputation for academic excellence. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings, NTU ranked 63rd globally, with 39 of its subjects ranked among the world's top 100.
NTU comprises 17 colleges as well as three professional schools in Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy. The university offers 61 departments and 152 graduate institutes. NTU is particularly renowned for its highly competitive and academically rigorous medical programs, making it a dream destination for many aspiring medical students.
Alice’s journey to medicine was not a straight line. She didn't know from the very beginning that she wanted to become a doctor. Throughout her secondary school years, she actively explored a wide range of interests through the school’s diverse extracurricular and experiential learning opportunities. She participated in activities such as Model United Nations and Business Simulation competitions, exposing herself to different disciplines and fields in order to better understand her own interests and strengths.
Through this process of trying and experiencing, Alice gradually realized that she was especially drawn to biology and enjoyed the process of delving deeply into the subject. Step by step, she ruled out paths that did not truly resonate with her, while becoming increasingly certain that her real passion lay in biology and medicine. Over time, she developed a clear goal of becoming a doctor.
As her direction became clearer, Alice began to pursue more focused experiences in the medical field. She interned at an International Doctor Clinic in Dongguan through our school's Internship Program, gaining firsthand experience in clinical practice, and launched a dental health workshop on campus to apply her medical knowledge. In addition, under the guidance of a mentor, she is currently working on a lung cancer research paper, a project that has already taken over a year of dedicated effort. Her dedication and persistence have now paid off with an unconditional offer from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine.
