Unlike conventional drama, Theatre-in-Education (TIE) places greater emphasis on participation and critical thinking.
Rather than merely featuring performers enacting stories, the production incorporates bespoke learning frameworks designed to guide students to observe, raise questions and reflect. Students in the audience are no longer passive spectators; instead, they play an integral part in advancing the plot and engaging in group discussions.

Smart Network Home unfolds around the story of an ordinary household. The father falls for online advertisements and narrowly avoids a scam; the mother is obsessed with online shopping and nearly gets trapped by deceptive consumption tactics; the daughter suffers from cyberbullying due to excessive internet dependence.
In the play, "Entangling Web" and "Wise Web" symbolise temptation and rationality in the digital realm respectively, prompting students to reflect: as the internet becomes integral to daily life, how can we make sound decisions online?

As the story unfolds, the theatre educators pose a series of real-life questions: How do we distinguish fact from fiction amid the flood of online information? What steps can we take to protect ourselves when targeted by cyberbullying? And how do we strike a healthy balance between digital entertainment and real life?
黄丽萍博士也向学生介绍了应对网络欺凌的PEAR四步法——Pause(停止响应)、Exit(离开场景)、Archive(保留证据)及Report(及时求助),帮助学生掌握切实可行的应对策略。
The discussion was lively, with students actively sharing their insights and personal experiences. Dr. Wong Lai Ping introduced the four-step PEAR method for tackling cyberbullying: Pause, Exit, Archive and Report, equipping students with practical coping strategies.

During the one-hour interactive theatre session, students gained deeper insight that the Internet is neither a menacing threat nor an ideal utopia, but simply a double-edged sword. Excessive indulgence can lead to self-loss and damaged relationships, while sensible and prudent usage facilitates learning and enriches daily life. As highlighted in the performance, the Internet is comparable to a kitchen knife — inherently neutral; its impact hinges entirely on the person wielding it.

The digital age is well upon us. May every student stay mindful and discerning amid an open, diverse information landscape. As they connect with the wider world, they preserve their authentic selves and harness technology as a positive driving force for personal growth.
