Changsha BeeMee Forest School Receives Authorization as an IB World School
曾经的课堂,孩子举手,是为了回答老师的问题;
越来越多的孩子,敢于表达独特的观点,不惧不同;
越来越多的孩子,主动发起好奇的提问,跳出固化;
提醒我们始终坚守儿童本位,守护每一份好奇;
提醒我们持续深耕探究教育,不浮躁、不功利;
The longer we work in education, the clearer one truth becomes: genuine growth lies not in how many answers children can memorize, but in their preparedness to pose curious questions about the world around them.
At BeeMee campus, we have witnessed the most heart-warming shifts in education unfold before our eyes.
Before, children raised their hands to answer teachers’ questions.
Today, they put their hands up to ask questions of their own.
What would happen to the planet if bees disappeared entirely?
Why do some regions suffer severe water shortages while others have abundant rainfall?
Where does all our discarded rubbish end up?
What practical things can primary-aged pupils do to support our local community?
None of these questions come with set answers or feature on exam syllabi.
Yet children happily devote weeks of focused enthusiasm to each inquiry.
They source information independently, carry out field research, hold discussions with parents and run practical experiments, documenting their findings, challenging existing assumptions and refining their understanding step by step.
We hold fast to our belief: far more precious than uniform standard answers are children’s courage to raise questions independently and the process of exploratory learning.
The moment a child chooses to ask voluntarily, meaningful learning has already taken root.
Changsha BeeMee Forest School (CBFS) has recently attained official authorization for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), officially joining the global network of IB World Schools.
We are often asked what the PYP has brought to our school and pupils.
Our reply remains sincere and resolute: the PYP has never altered our foundational educational philosophy; instead, it has equipped our long-held beliefs with a more professional, structured and practical implementation framework.
BeeMee has always maintained that education is never a one-way exercise of pouring fixed knowledge into children’s minds.
Its core purpose is to empower young people to understand, critique and engage with the world.
For this reason, inquiry learning stretches far beyond dedicated UOI lessons and permeates every part of daily school life.
Within classroom settings, we have gradually stepped back from the role of instructors who deliver ready-made solutions, abandoning the habit of supplying instant answers.
We prefer to prompt our learners with thoughtful inquiries:
What makes you think that?
What evidence supports your viewpoint?
Are there alternative ways of looking at this?
Rather than prioritizing right or wrong outcomes, we value children’s reasoning journeys and nurture their critical thinking skills.
Our co-curricular (CCA) curriculum fosters all-round developmental growth.
Pupils articulate their thoughts and build confidence through drama, design solutions and test ideas via robotics, learn teamwork and sportsmanship on the sports field, and discover unique avenues for self-expression through the arts.
Our goals extend well beyond technical skill-building: we guide every child to uncover their passions, build self-assurance and develop the ability to make independent life choices.
We break down the physical boundaries of the classroom through off-site experiential learning rooted in real-life contexts.
Local community visits, charitable initiatives, hands-on practical projects and end-of-unit exhibitions all help children grasp an important truth: learning exists not solely for personal advancement. It enables us to observe the world, connect compassionately with others and drive positive change.
Character education sits at the heart of our pastoral care provision.
Values of respect, integrity, care, collaboration and reflection are never empty slogans displayed on walls, but lived experiences woven into daily school routines: children learn tolerance during group tasks, grow through reflecting on mistakes and cultivate kindness through mutual support.
We aim to nurture learners with strong academic foundations alongside well-rounded personalities, genuine empathy and a robust sense of responsibility for the future.
Four years on from our foundation, our original educational vision remains unchanged, and we have watched countless children flourish and transform.
More pupils dare to voice distinct opinions without fear of disagreement;
more take the initiative to ask curious questions and break free from rigid thought patterns;
more can plan their own learning, collaborate in teams and take ownership of responsibilities.
Such positive transformations stem not from a single subject, but from an inquiry-led culture embedded across our whole school community – the very essence of the PYP philosophy.
Far more than a structured curriculum framework, the PYP represents an educational ideology that honors childhood, respects natural growth and trusts in the power of inquiry.
Achieving IB World School status marks a significant milestone for BeeMee, yet it is by no means our finishing line.
This official accreditation is both an accolade and a solemn reminder:
to keep putting children at the center of everything we do and safeguard every spark of natural curiosity;
to keep refining our inquiry-based pedagogy without haste or short-sighted pragmatism;
to stay true to our founding mission and preserve education purest essence.
When our pupils eventually leave BeeMee to step out into the wider world, we hope they take away more than textbook knowledge and strong exam results.
They leave with the courage to question the unknown, the critical matters to interpret and make sense of the world, and a compassionate sense of duty to contribute towards a better future.
We choose to never rush to give children all the answers, but to cherish their growth patiently.
This is the IB education we uphold at BeeMee, and the finest form of education we know.
